Are these "torrent" things legal?

Right click the game icon and go to properties and then click on the compatability tab. click the box that says "run in compatability mode" and then select windows xp with service pack 2. It might help to run it in 256 colors and as administrator too. But with xp selected vista will run the game like your computer was windows xp.

Ok, thanks... it still doesn't work though :(.

A good torrent program I use is called uTorrent. Very streamlined. Lets you see the contents of the .torrent file before you begin downloading and choose which parts you want to download.

Yeah bittorrent looks almost identical to utorrent. It has done pretty well for me.

Legal, illegal...

These companies have enough suckers to pay stupid amounts for things, some of us just take it for free, it's all good. Customer loyalty.
