Most are explained in rather short order. Do you remember the three Navy UFO's, UAP's whatever language you prefer? They were all analyzed and debunked in short order after they were released.

I would assume any aliens that did exist came from other planetoids.

Our perception is limited by the limitations of our sensory abilities. There are birds and animals that can see further, hear and smell better than us, showing clearly that we only occupy a certain limited position in the sensory spectrum.
Other dimensions have been described by yogis and mystics able to perceive the same.
It is possible that alien technologies of advanced extraterrestrial civilizations have developed to the point that they could travel through such dimensions for faster and more efficient travel, just as they may be able to cover vast regions in space through wormholes and so on.
