It depends.

The answer depends on the answer to this question: would you freely choose to be teleported to 1000 years ago, if you could?

Depends upon which part of the world I would be teleported.
Sounds scary , might be intellectual as well .

I think both. Is that called bettorse?

As numbers increase, need increases too. No matter how bad we deal with our needs, there is no way to tell if they are the problem that forces us to seem bad, or that we are actually becoming bad and not just going with the current of nature.
wortter!

In many ways, better. Generally speaking, in science, technology, the arts, minority and women's rights, and public morality (at least in the West), things are much improved over prior centuries and millennia. For instance, some kinds of child abuse were almost universally accepted as standard parenting practices as recently as 50 or 60 years ago, but now seem to be on the decrease in Western countries. And the whole issue of whether women and minorities should have equal rights is, in historical terms, a relatively recent innovation.

In some ways, worse. Examples: Over-population, massive environmental degradation, the near inevitability of thermonuclear war within the next 50-100 years, global climate change, etc.

But I think fundamental human nature has neither improved nor degenerated for tens of thousands of years. We are still the same noble species of poo-flinging ape we've always been. We murder, we love, we are malicious and compassionate, we lie and seek the truth, we are foolish and wise, hard and tender, etc --- just as we've always been.

On a worldwide basis, the chance of dying by violent death has decreased dramatically over the centuries, and even compared to 100 years ago or so. The world has also dramatically improved in terms of ethical treatment of racial minorities, women, children, and sexual minorities.

On the other hand, the environment is in bad shape, with increasing CO2 levels, increasing temperatures, increasing ocean acidity, increasing ocean mercury levels, increasing synthetic chemicals in the environment, decreasing soil quality, decreasing species diversity, etc. Human health is also in pretty bad shape, with huge rates of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and depression, with longevity being fueled by end-of-life preservation technology and pills rather increases in actual vibrant health.

So I vote it depends on what metric you go by.

Revelation all the time
"We" type assertions always fascinate me.

Because of my belief in "no wrong steps in the path" and because of general optimism, I voted "better"

I could certainly make a case for the other 3 options, but as a "we" thing, I'd much prefer to go with optimism.

What do you think ? Which direction are we geared towards ?
1)We are evolving both scientifically and intellectually , we will find better solutions become more tolerant and learn to live in harmony and peace.
(or)
2)We are degrading morally/ ethically /spiritually and the materialistic and egoistic race would eventually lead us to self destruction.
EDIT : Extra Question for Option 2 , Any Solutions ?
i think things are much better and that's how things are headed. Ignorance is at an all time low which is important for harmony and peace. Sure maybe it isn't coming fast enough, enlightenment is sometimes a slow process for the masses but once we get a hold of them they are usually quick learners. Even with me saying US is 30th in math and science we are talking really just a few points on even harder questions than we've ever seen in history.
