Are you afraid of flying?

I'm not afraid of flying. I don't like the idea of being in a cabin sharing the same germ saturated air with others. So I don't fly unless I'm planning on jumping out.

Commercial flying is probably the worst, even if one gets a window seat, given that the seats are usually so tight and sometimes with having annoying neighbours. Let alone the affects of long flights. And I've travelled long distance, local flights, on smaller planes, light aircraft, and helicopters - the latter not wanted (rescue). But, given that air travel (commercial at least) is safer than most other forms of travel I don't mind it. Having worked in the aircraft industry I do at least know enough as to the rigorous nature in designing, building, and testing them so that might give some confidence, even if seeing a wing tip move several feet under load might alarm some.

I understand.
Travelling by train is very pleasant, especially because you can stand up and loiter in the corridor, there is more space in general to move.
The problem is time.
Too many hours,...if it's long distances.

Anything over 2.5 hours is a drag. Landing at City Airport in East London is a buzz though.
