I'm aware that to many of you, this probably sounds like a tremendously odd question, but bear with me for a moment, because I am going somewhere with this. I think.

Do you consider yourself to be completely human? If so, why? If not, in what fashion do you consider yourself to be not quite human?

In essence, I'm curious how central "humanness" is to personal identity. Poll should be up shortly after this post.
Why do you ask, Earthling? :D

At the risk of sounding weird and not all there, I definitely relate to animals and plants more than humans and I feel infinitely more comfortable around them than I do around humans.

Naw, that's not odd at all. There's good reasons why non-human life forms are used in therapy. Unlike humans, they don't judge you. That alone makes them more comforting company in many cases.

Because I force myself to be rational so much, I explain it to myself that different animals are nature's embodiments of different attributes and the unique thing about humans is that they are not limited to only certain attributes, as are other species, but are varying combinations of different attributes, thus why so many different people relate to different animals so strongly; just about everyone has an animal that they relate to and our histories of indigenous cultures show that trend too. So this is a way that we personify these attributes.

That's an interesting way to look at it. Personally, I approach it by recognizing that non-human creatures are our relations. They're not as categorically "other" as we have sometimes been taught to think. Identifying with things outside of yourself, no matter what it is, builds a connection that can be powerful and emotional.

I am all that's human, which is why I get very sad when I see how humans behave. "Human" to me is what distinguishes conscious identity for mankind.

in physical sense i am human, as a consciousness i am part of something larger most of which remains unknown and some smaller part can only be estimated and associated in this reality.

I despise my human image. I'd honestly rather look like the entity in my avatar. I'd keep my natural body concealed by a black cloak at all times.

I am also completely irate at the physical components involved with human sexuality. I want nothing to do with sexuality whatsoever... and unfortunately it's not as easy as removing one's genitalia. You have to remove other minor organs and redesign regions of the brain to fully "euthanize" sexuality.

No glory in being human.
By the evening news I might back away that distinction.

As we go about in the flesh....human....yeah.
But there is no cause to hold my head high for having flesh.
And my fellow man is cause for dismay.

Parting of the ways is pending.
Can't be avoided.

I wear black almost continually....hood and all.

As for that leaving lustful things behind.....no need for hurry....
Dead men forsake the flesh.
