Are you sure you are an Atheist?

In my case I was raised super-Catholic with all the kooky stories being presented as true. My whole world...parents, teachers, priests at my parish...feeding me these stories. And yet as soon as I reached a certain age...I guess maybe 7 or 8 or so?...I immediately recognized none of it was factually true. How did that happen so fluidly for me with no outside influence, while others go on believing there was really a Zoo-Boat their entire lives?

Maybe they were too pushy with you and you reacted to that.
I’m sure that nature has a say too. We are not born “blank papers”. We do have a basic character. Maybe yours didn’t like people pushing you towards a belief. Others don’t mind.

My daughter, she is now 7, has a strong “pull” towards synoptic Christianity. She loves churches, priests, stories about Jesus, lighting candles etc. I have no idea why and it freaks me out! My parents are atheists, my in-laws don’t even give a damn about any religion, my hubby and me are Pantheists… How does synoptic Christianity fit in all this?? Weird, right?

Pantheism is just atheism for hippies.

Hahaha…!! Good one

Uh oh...Nefelie, you don't wear patchouli do you?

Nope! Hate it! You can relax now hahaha…

Maybe. Although I don't remember a feeling of anger or any desire to reject what they were pressing on me. The feeling I remember is a little sadness and disappointment in my parents...that they were kind of dumb or something to believe what they believed. From as early as I can remember I saw their world view as small and false.

She's grow out of it. :)
