Assisted Dying

McBell

Unbound
This won't be happening anytime soon in America. We simply aren't as free as most of Europe or Britain.
Assisted suicide is legal in 10 jurisdictions in the US: Washington, D.C.[2] and the states of California, Colorado, Oregon, Vermont, New Mexico, Maine,[3] New Jersey,[4] Hawaii, and Washington.[5] The status of assisted suicide is disputed in Montana, though currently authorized per the Montana Supreme Court's ruling in Baxter v. Montana that "nothing in Montana Supreme Court precedent or Montana statutes [indicates] that physician aid in dying is against public policy."[6]

Taking flight
The UK parliament is today debating and later voting on a new bill that will allow people to request that they can end their own life.
There are many gates to jump through but I hope it succeeds
I'm glad the initial debate made it through. Scotland is to have it's vote on our version of the Bill next year. I hope it's passed because, if not, that puts us at odds with the rest of the UK. Imagine: a Scotsman going to England to die?? It's no' gonnae happen, pal.

I had wondered why all the SNP MPs abstained.
