Atavisms

I was just wondering what the Creationist response is to atavisms - evolutionary throwbacks.

Ie, mutant whales being born with femurs/tibia/fibula/toes etc.

Creationists - what's your response to them?

Yes, they're evolutionary throwbacks.
Lol, I know what they are - I'm most definitely not a creationist, I accept evolution as fact. I've just never heard of whales being born with toes before, which warranted me to ask about it... where would their toes be? :D

That's kind of awesome if there hasn't been some miscommunication here. The link you've got doesn't say anything about whales and toes, only horses, guinea pigs and salamanders.

Whales have evolved so that the hind legs are 'absorbed' into the muscular area surrounding the pelvis, much like our coccyx (tailbone) has shrunk and become a stunted extension of the spine hidden with the muscles around our rear pelvis. They are still clearly there, however, as can be seen from pictures of whale skeletons; just non-visible in a living whale.

Where toes go :p If the femur, tibia & fibula etc., are reactivated, I would imagine that's where the digits go. The link explains it.

Here is an example... this wild dolphin was captured when people noticed that it had hind flippers. The extra fins are atavistic.

Just because I like playing :devil:devils advocate:devil:, my favorite response for atavisms is this:

Yes, those are real horn(s) that resemble goat horns! So does this mean evolutionists claim that we evolved from goat like ancestors as well? Now, as I do have a PhD in Truthology from Christian Tech, it is my very scientific conclusion that evolution is false and creation is clearly proven.

if that is real, it would just be a mutation, not an atavism.

actually that is an extreme form of wart caused by one of the HPV's. True horns have a bone core.

So, nope, this isn't an atavism... however humans born with tails are:

Lol. That's actually just a weird result of exposure of radiation. It's not an actual horn, and hence not an atavism.

Thanks for playing Devils Advocate though. Any creationists care to answer? Or even people that know of the typical Creationist response? All I ever get is silence.

Come on Creationists - show me your proof!

OH .. I almost forgot one of my favorite atavisms!

Again, it's from whales... Whales are descended from artylodactyls (even toed hooved animals) and as such, they still have a four chambered stomach. Even though there is no need for a fish or krill eating animal to have such a complicated stomach.
