Yes, some people believe whatever they feel like. Some people don't know how to think critically at all.
This isn't surprising. Religions actively DISCOURAGE critical thinking.
And we aren't TAUGHT critical thinking as a rule.
Your feelings seem to be what tells you what is true or not.
I think that's about as bad a method as can be.
If what you believe in is ONLY what you feel like.. then.. your conclusions are going to be very unreliable.
Imagine a car mechanic who told you he didn't FEEL that you need an oil change instead of CHECKING if you need one.
He would be CHECKING his feelings and NOT CHECKING your car.
I would NEVER use such a poor method to know if something is true or not.
Not for car oil and CERTAINLY not for gods.
So, you can forget your FEELINGS.. just give me the FACTS...
Do you HAVE any of those?
Or is all you HAVE are feelings?
Do you know what you get when all you look at are your feelings?
You get to know your FEELINGS real well.
But reality?

Here's why. You are equating being "without a belief" with believing that something doesn't exist. That is obviously flawed logic.

The action that rendered the declaration is identical.

The OP is not a QUESTION of taking responsibility for beliefs.
It's a question as to what should be a DEFAULT POSITION on beliefs.

Sure. I do believe in God, but that is irrelevant. We are saying that atheism does not require saying this. It merely required a "lack of belief".

PLEASE try to understand our position.
If you cannot understand our true position, and insist on tilting at windmills, then by all MEANS... knock yourself out.
IF, however, you want to actually discuss what WE BELIEVE OR DISBELIEVE, do please, ASK US FOR OUR POSITION, as many of us CAN, actually, describe full well OUR OWN POSITION.
Do you KNOW what a straw man argument is?
Could you please AVOID making those in the future?

We are discussing those that say I have not been convinced that belief in God is warranted. They don't believe that God does not exist or cannot exist, as that would be ridiculous all the same, as anything is possible. They mere lack a belief in the existence of God.
