Suspicion does not necessarily imply belief in the thing being suspected.
I meant to use the words "suppose" and "supposition" in addition to "surmise".
Sorry about that. Vocabulary is hard.
Basically, I'm saying there can be an "uncertain belief".
"Suspicion" is better used to describe thinking that something is possible, likely, or true.
Do you agree that there can be an "uncertain belief"? And that this is distinguishable from a "certain belief" or conviction? Or do you think that we either believe things or not and suggestions otherwise are just clever word play?
