Well the secularist don't get to celebrate the Autumn Equinox by dancing naked around a bonfire. They have to keep their clothes on at all times.

Towel Day (May 25) is a celebration of Douglas (HHGTG) Adams, the wickedly mirthful atheistic author.
So someone mentioned that today is Half Off Chocolate Bunny Day, and that got me thinking of other, similar "secular" holidays. Here's a quick "Atheist Holiday" guide.
Darwin Day - February 12
Pi Day - March 14
Half Off Chocolate Bunny Day - the day after Easter Sunday
All Candies Eve - October 31
Half Off All Candies Day (the most delicious holiday of the year) - November 1
Day Off Work For Living in a Mostly Christian Nation - December 25
I'm sure I missed a few. Anyone else want to jump in?
I'm a Pagan and I don't care who celebrates those.
'Tis bad enough that us Christians shanghaied and Christianized all the important pagan holidays. Now you want the secularists to do it too and secularize those holidays and render them completely devoid of any spiritual significance?
I swear the pagans are like the Native Americans of religion and spirituality, everyone is out to steal their ****.
Those holidays belong to the Neo-Pagans and Wiccans...
The neo-pagans and wiccans cannot possibly own the solstices and equinoxes because they did not invent the solstices and equinoxes, they merely chose to celebrate them. Merely choosing to celebrate them gives them no more claim to the dates than I would have to your car if I choose to celebrate it.

I drive a Volvo. You can celebrate it all you want as long as you pay me for it.
I just think it is best that we remember why Neo-Pagans and Wiccans hold those periods of time sacred.
Wicca's only existed since the mid-20 century. They don't own anything. If you want to go that route, then animists "own" those celebrations. As an animist, I declare that anyone can celebrate them. So, there.

And that means that no one else can?
Heck no. I think it is best that all acknowledge that time is sacred.
Weird to be me of all people to say that to an appreciator of Crowley, but surely you realize that people have an inherent right to celebrate what is theirs to enjoy - including the passing of seasons?
Do you perhaps feel that it is disrespectful to share appreciation of certain dates with others?
That is IMO taking things so far. There is respect, and then there is pointless avoidance. People have no more duty to make a point of sharing no preferences than they have to agree on those preferences.
What you are proposing is... oddly enslaving. And for no purpose at all.
I am saying that TIME is sacred, not just certain periods of time. That is what holidays and Sabbath is for, to remind us that all time is sacred.
