As an atheist, do you have a goal for self-improvement?

Is there a practice you follow, like Buddhism or some other non-theistic ideal?
Do you just flow with life, dealing with whatever comes your way the best you can?

Do you have any kind of ultimate goal that you want to achieve before you die?
What advice would you give to others to achieve a better life?

I don't think atheists are immune to traditionalism and cultural biases that become systemic. Certain 'magical' thinking about what ideal social behaviors are, especially relating to age, class, gender and sex expectations just as foundationless as any religious dogma.

So my self help is as consequentialist as I can make it. Looking at what makes social, physical, mental and even spiritual health on both individual and community levels and try to pick pathways that make the most sense based on outcome.

It's not easy. There's a lot of research involved and my personal perspective is almost always insufficient for a conclusion. But it makes the most sense to me.

I'm a big fan of CBT on a general basis.

I have been reading and trying to follow "7 habits of highly effective people" for about 10 years now. Definatly worth a read through; I guarantee you will find something useful.

The knowledge comes easily, it's the following through that is a constant struggle!

"Atheist self-improvement" is no different from "Religionist self-improvement". It is simply an individual deciding to use some framework as a means of self-improvement. It all comes from within, but atheists don't pretend otherwise.
