really? all of you are extremely happy? all the time, or just some of the time? if its only 50% of the time, can you really say that your "happy"? its a silly question that dosent really mean anything. no one is happy all the time, and the only people who are miserable all the time are about 5 minutes away from killing themselves.

I am happy almost all of the time. My incredibly laid back attitude helps a lot with not letting things get to me. Though occasionally my mood would only be OK.

I am blissful all the time :D. To be honest, it is after when I decided to be an Atheist.

But the transition time from being a Hindu to an Atheist was the most gruesome period of my life. lots of thinking affected my day-to-day life.

I have always doubted the existence of god from when I was 7 or 8. when they taught the mechanisms of natural phenomenons like rain, thunder, etc, I asked my Dad -- where did God come in the cycle of events? Why do people pray God to pour rain?, etc. But my Dad, who is a spiritual person, explained in the point of view of both a believer and a non-believer which was the freedom I am always grateful for.

I think contentment or satisfaction is a more desirable state than bliss. And I'm usually content / satisfied. When I'm not it's situational. I.e. not enough music being played, not enough time to myself, PMS, stuff like that.

I tend to fluctuate between various emotional states. This is, however, largely due to my borderline personality disorder. It causes me to have frequent mood swings. Of course, I am medicated and the mood swings are kept at a minimum but they still happen. That said, I also have depression and anxiety so sometimes I do get depressed or anxious. I do not believe, however, that this has anything to do with my lack of religion.

I'm generally not a happy person at all, but I believe it has almost everything to do with bi-polar disease, chronich depression, chronic anxiety, and mild psychosis (I've been diagnosed with each of them). Furthermore, I've been referred to a second psychiatrist for evaluation to compare diagnostic conclusions (it's believed that I may not have been properly diagnosed and I think that's true myself). Not to mention the side-effects that the meds cause too. If I'm perfectly rigid in taking my meds when I'm supposed to, no problems, but if I miss one day of one certain med I take, I go into withdrawl, and after 2-3 days of withdrawl, whoa, dr. jeckyl and mr. hyde.

The reason I point those things out (in so much detail) is because I doubt my atheism has anything to do with my unhappiness.

I am a contented person but not given to extremes of emotion

I think my general even keel has to do with internalizing the Buddhist idea that grasping = suffering.

When I am mindful of this, I am usually happy. When I forget that the world does not exist to make me happy, that is when I have problems.

Yes, I was. I had been Catholic for almost 4 years. It would have been 4 years next Easter.

What happened is that I realized just how illogical Catholicism and Christianity in general is. I also realized just how illogical religion in general is. That and I looked at the fruits of Christianity and well, I was not impressed. I was already aware of the violent history of Christianity but yeah, the Bible says to judge a person by their fruits so why not judge a religion by its fruits as well? That and I have always been a strong believer in science although I was in denial that a lot of things in religion just don't line up with science. So yeah, now I'm an Atheist. I simply can't believe anymore. Not only the things above but "god" was not answering my prayers either. So, here I am.

That might just make me ecstatic as well.
