I do what I love, and I'm rich. There's a second option.

Sure, there are jobs that pay well. If you love one of those, power to you! Mine's not so bad either, although I won't be buying anyone a Lexus for Christmas this year. :p

I'm planning on buying Mrs. Wirey a new sculpture by this exciting artist named Cooper Bline.

I hope she doesn't figure it out.

Hmmm, best advice I can give:

Resumé: write one and write it well. Take a class if you have to. This is really important for people transferring from one line of work, to another. Make your skills and language match the job you are applying for. What this means is if you are sending out multiple resumés, tailor each one to each job, no blanket resume's. It may seem tedious, but it is worth the effort.

At least I know this will be important for me in a few years, as I will need to translate 10 years of military service into applicable civilian lingo, that still plays up my experience without being lost in translation.

Ah. Sounds fun.

I assume that's sarcastic, but my job is fantastic. Right now I'm helping devise a way to provide clean drinking water to people who need it in those poor-assed loser countries. I stack fat cheddar and seize the moral high ground! Everything is coming up 'Wirey'!

Not sarcasm. Just didn't quite know what to say. Good that you enjoy your job though. I don't think I"m that enthusiastic about mine and I've thought about going back to school
