Awesome song on the Horned God~!

Celtic Rock with a pagan twist? I am not a Wiccan, although I tried it for a year in my teenage years ages ago... I just had to share this sweet awesome song for the Horned God. :D

Lyrics:

He holds a twisted torque in his hands,
The forests are his ruling lands.

Great God Cernunnos, return to earth again,
Come at my call and show thyself to men.
Shepherd of goats upon the wild hills way,
Lead thy lost flock from darkness unto day.

The Horned God is our nature deity,
Butt modern man would from his presence flee.

Stolen are the ways of sleep and night,
Men seek for them, whose eyes have lost the light.
Open the door, the door hath no key,
The door of dreams whereby men come to thee.

Shepherd of goats, oh answer unto me,
In the summerlands is where we shall meet thee.

Well if you want to know bands or songs that praise any Pagan or Celtic Gods, you let me know, because the majority of the music I listen to is Pagan. Although a lot of it is metal, with "harsh" vocals coupled with regular singing, so I don't know how much you or others would like it...

Klaufi I'm a metalhead...to be precise, I'm a "folk" metalhead meaning I am a fanatic of metal which makes pagan music from mythologies and traditions from all over the world using folk instruments such as the fiddle, the tin whistle and the bagpipe.

There is a subgenre of folk metal which would surely be interesting to you. It's called Viking metal and the lyrical theme is obvious...such bands are: Amon Amarth (no folk instruments used, listen to War of the Gods) / Tyr (no folk instruments either but its more melodic, listen to Hold the Heathen Hammer High) / Ensiferum (my favourite band and the greatest artists I've had the honor to know, a must listen of them is the Elusive Reaches, you must read the lyrics.)

There are many more Folk Metal bands out there of course, and I'd like you to know that you're always welcome to ask when you need something.

On the celtic end I'd STRONGLY recommend Eluveite with their melodic instrumental songs and the use of many folk metal instruments, listen to ---> Inis Mona, Thousandfold and The Cauldron of Renascence. There is also Korpiklaani and Finntroll if you seek more "dancy" rythms, the extensive use of folk instruments make them most enjoyable (Korpiklaani: Beer Beer, Tequila, Vodka...yes these are songs xD and Finntroll: Trollhammaren and Jaktens Tid)

Looking forward in seeing your opinion

Hehe I already listen to every band you suggested and every song! I love Folk metal too! My favourite Ensiferum song is Heathen Throne though, I love those lyrics. Those are the more known Folk Metal bands, but I'll suggest some to you who are less-known but just as great :)

Folk Metal:
Finsterforst - Very Black Metal influenced, so there is very little "clean" singing. However they use an amazing accordion, and tinwhistles and such. I suggest listening to Des Waldes Macht, Rauschende Nächte, and Försterhochzeit.

Menhir - Awesome Folk Metal. They scream very little, and their singing is just so powerful. I recommend Das Alte Lied Des Windes and Des Kriegers Gesicht.

Suidakra - They call themselves Celtic Metal. More of a regular Folk Metal band though. I suggest The IXth Legion and Highland Hills

Varg - Don't know how to describe them haha. Kind of like Finntroll without all the folk instruments. Erwache is the best song I've heard.

Wolfchant - Great band. Somewhat like Amon Amarth except more folky sounding. A Pagan Storm is the best song.

Pagan Reign - They're awesome Russian Folk Metal. I'd suggest you a song but it's all in the Russian alphabet haha. They are really fast!

Thyrfing - Similar to Amon amarth except more screamed vocals than growls, and they are symphonic. Slumber of Yesteryears and Digerdöden

Oak Roots - Phenomenal Italian band. I never excepted an Italian Folk band, but these guys are awesome. So far they've only released a four-song demo called The Branch of Fate. Every song on it is great!

Heidevolk - Somewhat like Tyr, but less epic and more awesome! hahaha. Ostara and Saksenland are great songs.

I have plenty more lol, but I think I'll move on to the Celtic stuff.

Heol Telwen - From Brittany, the only Celtic Nation not in the British Isles. Great use of Flutes, Bombards, etc. Dahud and Enez Glaz are my favourites.

Bran Barr - Also from Brittany, very similar to Heol Telwen except more Death Metal influence. I'd recommend the Sidh album.

Belenos - My favourite. They are Black Metal, but he does this chanting stuff, and it's so awesome. Limited folk instruments though. (Also from Brittany lol) Listen to Mestr Ar C'hoad and Chant de Bataille.

Albannach - Not metal, but the best pipes 'n' drums band out there! They have a bagpiper and some drummers who play this Scottish tribal stuff. It's awesome! Hooligan's Holiday and the Gael.

Waylander is from Ireland and they are very similar to Amon Amarth. Galloping Gaels is pretty good.

I think I kind of went overboard... :cover:

See how metal and tradition unites people? :D Thanks for the awesome suggestions, I've been looking for more folk bands recently and the lists were so chaotic I instantly closed 'em! Now, to try 'em out...

Klaufi, do you have Celtic metal with more clean singing, thats not sung by a woman? I've been trying to find a couple of bands like that, but so far, found little.

I really don't :sorry1: I wish I did though. The very few Celtic Metal bands out there are extreme metal with only some clean singing. I don't have a problem with the harsh vocals, but I know some people do.
