Whatever it was, I'm not in a position to judge the customs and practices at that time.
As far as attested, nobody was hurt or offende or whatever at that time. I find it more difficult to defend the proposed slaughterings and promiscuities in the Old Testament.
Yes, and remember what the great Prophet Jeremiah said:
"Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirements of YHWH. How can you say, 'We are wise, for we have the Torah of YHWH,' when actually
the lying pen of the Scribes has handled it falsely? The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the Word of YHWH, what kind of Wisdom do they have?" Yirmeyahu 8:7-9
Many things in the Tanakh are nothing more than interpolations made by the lying pen of the scribes, like Prophet Lot having sex with his two daughters and Prophet Noah getting drunk and naked in front of his family. As well as the Prophet's Aaron and Solomon being idol worshippers etc. These are nothing more than lies and slander. Remember what the book of Revelation says:
"You shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish from it, that you may keep the Mitzvot (Commandments) of YHWH Elohekem (the LORD your God) which I command you."
The individuals responsible for this filth will surely be punished. Anything that ever happened in the lives of the Prophets and Messengers of YHWH/God/Allah, was and is pure, holy and righteous.
