Yes this is extremely important and it helps prevent colon cancer and other digestive cancers. We cannot underestimate the power of whole wheat in the body. Wheat is the staff of life.

Doctrince and Covenants 89: 14

"All grain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on earth."

Without whole wheat the body will get sick.

I don't mean to be rude or judge here dude, but my diet used to be just like that. You'll feel so much better (about yourself and moodwise), have more energy and be physically healthier (less trips to the doc) if you eat more veg. I'm eating about 3 times more veg than everything else combined these days and aside from providing enough gas to power my street, there are no ill side effects. (I've just started drinking fennel tea for the gas, and it seems to be working). *eeeeewwwww*

Actually on topic for once: I've baked my own bread for about 10 years. IT ROCKS!!! make you're own pizza dough too. Pizza's that are 3 feet by 3 feet taste so much better :)
I make pizza dough all the time. Have you ever tried making crumpets from scratch? Now that's an experience...and I produce a damn fine crumpet if I do say so myself.;)

Can you PM my wife, Evenstar with a recipe for crumpets? Can't find them here is the US, and she misses them! :(

You got me beat by 5 years, I only did it for about 5 years. I got tired of making it and found a store bought brand that was almost as good as home made.

I have used the same whole wheat honey bread recipe to make pizza, as well. It was the bomb. Loaded with veggies mozerella and chedder cheese and some three cheese Hunt's, or Del Monte spaghetti sauce, instead of regular pizza sauce. I realize you may not have access to this three cheese spaghetti sauce or even that brand, but you get the idea. It's easy to make your own sauce too with basic tomato sauce and italian spices.

I haven't made bread in about 4 years. I love the taste of home-made bread, but it takes alot to drag me away from my computer and RF or WOW, and really the only thing that does that is going to do that is work.

I agree, the price in England is so low that it just isn't economically viable to make bread. Having said that, my wife makes some for us every so often (when she gets the baking bug); I love her bread, it is more like the continental 'heavier' bread than the cotton wooly stuff we get in the supermarkets.
I disagree. The stuff they call bread here (that is the cheap stuff) is so far removed from what I would consider bread that I can't even compare it to the stuff I bake. I actually bake almost all the bread we eat at home nowadays. There's no economic considerations really. 1.5 kg of flour costs almost exactly the same as a medium sized half edible shop bought loaf. From that I can make three decent loaves (I know I need yeast and stuff too, but it's hardly expensive). The only saving, then, that I can see in buying rather than baking is a saving in time.

We baked some potato bread the other day that came out soooo good! Just put about 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes into the recipe... :)

It's also good to use the water you boiled the potatoes in rather than just plain water for the liquid.

hehe, ive just finished my sandwhich made form home-made bread :) It was a wholemeal loaf with cheese and bacon bits in it, and it was gorgous

the thing is, they don't coem out the oven ready sliced:mad: and i can't slice bread with a knife, i end up wither cutting myself, or cutting a slice that is thin at the top and thick at the bottom

we use a bread maker though, we don't make dough ourselves and bake it, so i guess we still cheat, but cheat in a good way:jiggy: we made brioche the other day aswell, i love that in the afternoon (i was gonna say morning, but then realised i would be lying:D )
