Baptism in Christianity

Acts 2 doesn't say they used water. It says they were baptized in the name.

That is a literal thing, the name.

It is the ineffable name. It isn't water

Fool In the Name means: With "The AUTHORITY" of the person you are representing! The Ambassador speaks for the Country the Ambassador represents the Country!

"In the Name of God", the Son with all of the Son' AUTHORITY speaking for the Son! make disciples of all nations, baptizing
"In the Name of God", the Holy Spirit with all of the Holy Spirit' AUTHORITY speaking for the Holy Spirit! make disciples of all nations, baptizing

Fool The use of Water is how Christian baptize... Water is always used the Eunuch was baptized with water! Philip (A Christian) taught the importance of Water to be saved by Baptism!

Peter speaking for Jesus ordered that they be baptized with water! Jesus wanted them Baptized with Water!
Then Peter said, 47 “Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.”
48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
.

In the Name of Jesus Christ means with "The AUTHORITY of Jesus Christ"! Peter has the AUTHORITY to speak for Jesus! Jesus (God) wanted them Baptized with Water!

God wanted the Eunuch baptized "With Water" Philips job was not completed until the Eunuch was baptized with WATER!

The Early Church Fathers tell you "Water is always used to baptize"!
Justin Martyr
As many as are persuaded and believe that what we [Christians] teach and say is true, and undertake to be able to live accordingly, and instructed to pray and to entreat God with fasting, for the remission of their sins that are past, we pray and fast with them. Then they are brought by us where there is water and are regenerated in the same manner in which we were ourselves regenerated. For, in the name of God, the Father . . . and of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit [Matt. 28:19], they then receive the washing with water. For Christ also said, ‘Unless you are born again, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:3]” (First Apology 61 [A.D. 151]).

Fool in the same manner in which we were ourselves regenerated. This means Justin Martyr was Baptized with WATER!
The word regeneration used in the bible is the ancient word used to mean reincarnation

Acts 2

Doesn't mention water. The washing with water only washes the outside, washes the flesh. The baptism in the name washes, cleans the inside. The name literally ignites, triggers, catalyzed the inside cleansing.

Fool I hope all is well...

And your point is? The early Christians (Justin Martyr) used the word to remind us God originally made us to live with him in Paradise, in His Kingdom!
Then they are brought by us where there is water and are regenerated in the same manner in which we were ourselves regenerated.

Christians have always baptized with water.
Jesus always sends the Holy Spirit/Fire!

Jesus said the father is spirit and we must worship in spirit. The holy ghost is a spirit. The "name" is about spirit. Immersion is inward withe baptism into the name. It isn't outward like John's baptism. Those baptized in the name are within the temple. Those who are baptized only in water are only in the outer court.

Quoting all this jibberish is not the name, the name that drives out demons.

It isn't the name mentioned in the 23rd psalm.

Isn't the name from psalms 22:22

I only contribute more mystery to the conversation by contributing this passage from Ephesians chapter 4 verses 4-6:
"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." (excessive bold and point size are mine)
Matthew's 23:25-27

Jesus baptism cleans the inside and makes the outside clean.

It isn't what goes inward that makes one unclean. It's what is without.

Understanding baptism with water doesn't clean within.

Thinking baptism by water is like whitewashed. Only appears to clean

Hi,
What you say is all true but is not directly related to baptism.
As an outward sign of God's covenant, believing parents, who were already inside the covenant, brought their baby boys for circumcision eight days after birth. That was a sign of their first entry amongst the Covenant people of God.
However, God later indicated that the outward sign of circumcision would later change when He declared through the prophet Ezekiel:
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. You will be my people, and I will be your God.” (Ez. 36:25-28).
Every covenant in the Bible includes children (Gen 1:28; 2:9, 17; 9:9; 17:10; Deut 5:6-21; 6:4-7; 2 Sam 7:12-16; Acts 2:38-39; Eph 6:1-4). Every biblical covenant requires the believing parent(s) to uphold God’s covenant through an obedient life to the Lord and to teach their children to do the same.
The new sign would be that of cleansing by the sprinkling of water.
This is what Peter preached in Jerusalem: “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself” (Acts 2:38-39). The new covenant follows the same identical structure of: “Command–sign–promises–responsibilities”.

An infant can't repent and No need to, and "yes" parents ( not godparents ) are to teach children.
Since Pentecost Christians are Not under the temporary Constitution of the old Mosaic Law for ancient Israel.
Minor children are ' saved ' by the believing parent - 1 Corinthians 7:14

Ezekiel 38:16-32 is about God discipling His people.
Cleansed from those dungy idols. (stony idols along with the stoniness of their hearts) replaced with a heart of flesh.
A heart now motivated by love and the doing of God's will ahead of their old will . No infant does that .
Now a ' spiritual will ' replaced by their old corrupted 'fleshly will' / desires.
Ezekiel 36:25-28 could now correspond spiritually to Galatians 5:22-23 the fruitage of God's spirit.
Christian baptism is immersion No sprinkling.

........................................Acts 2:38
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Fool If you have sins, you cannot get into heaven!.............................

Peter says at 1 Peter 3:21 baptism corresponds through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
'Repentance' for the forgiveness of sins - Luke 24:46-47; Acts of the Apostles 26:20; Acts of the Apostles 17:30
One must first repent in order to be forgiven.

Right, if one has sins one can Not get into heaven, thankfully ' death ' is the complete total asking price tag for sin.
- Romans 6:23,7
So, one's death makes resurrection to be possible through Jesus.
Those called and chosen to heavenly life have that first or earlier resurrection - Revelation 20:6; 5:9-10; 2:10
They are the saints/ holy ones like those of Luke 22:28-30; Daniel 7:18
The majority of mankind can have a future happy-and-healthy physical resurrection.
That is why the ' future tense' is used at Acts of the Apostles 24:15 that there ' is going to be ' a resurrection.....

Jesus said the father is spirit and we must worship in spirit. The holy ghost is a spirit...................
God's spirit (Psalms 104:30) is a neuter "it" (Numbers 11:17,25) just as our spirit is a neuter "it" - Ecclesiastes 12:7 B.
True, Jesus and his God are spirit persons and so are all angels, but one's spirit (human or angelic) is a neuter "it".

Now we are getting complicated!

URAVIP2ME I hope all is well... In Matthew 25...
The Sheep are the saved, Jesus tells us they are Righteous. The Goats have "Faith Alone" Jesus tells us they are exactly as the Sheep but without the Good Works; Jesus tells us they are Satan' Children! 1 John 3:7
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. URAVIP2ME Doing right makes us "Righteous"!

Doing right as in 'practicing what is right' in God's eyes as Jesus taught.
What happens when God's standards are ignored is what is written at 2 Timothy 3:1-5,13.
By not practicing what is righteous in God's eyes is seen in the world-wide plagues we see today:
* violence increases / grows since 911
* food shortage ( sometimes minor children loose their parents and can't fend for themselves )
* moral breakdown is seen by the number of broken families.
* teen drug use and teen sex-as-a-game to hook up along with STD's.
* greed because of love of money financial greed.
* polluted earth causes suffering.
So, the humble 'sheep' are Not part of the haughty 'goat' problem but are part of the solution.
The 'sheep' do good to Jesus' brothers (Matthew 25:40) his spiritual brothers.
So, we are speaking about three (3) groups: sheep /goats and Jesus' 'brothers'.
The 'brothers' as mentioned at Luke 22:28-30; Daniel 7:18, 21-22.
They are the saints/holy ones called to govern with Jesus - Revelation 20:6; Revelation 5:9-10
The figurative 'sheep' can gain everlasting life on Earth as Jesus promised at Matthew 5:5 from Psalms 37:9-11

.......Baptism makes us God' children! Matt 12
"Jesus pointed to his disciples and said, "Here are my brothers"! .... IF....
Fool
if Jesus is your brother, then God would be your father! Disciples are made by baptism!
Matt 28 The Great Commission
"Make disciples of all nations BAPTIZING"!.......................
Besides baptism the Great Commission would also be to carry out Jesus' instructions as found at Matthew 24:13-14.
Proclaim on a global international scale the good news of God's Kingdom ( thy kingdom come....) - Daniel 2:44.
Today's super-human problems can only be solved by a super-human Hero aka Christ Jesus.

No it doesn't. It is a literal name. John 5:43

In verse 43 it only mentions the Father, and Jesus mentions his Father's name at John 17:6; John 17:26
When we hear " stop in the name of the law " we know the law is Not a literal person nor a literal name.
