when people see differences many like to think that they are better in some way ( smarter, better looking, closer to God ) and so the ones who are different need to be treated differently. it is part of human nature and probably not much can be done aout it. of course that does not make it right.

I don't think those wars are because of diversity though.
I think religious wars happen due to the rejection of diversity, religious people in the past have been unhappy living with other religious people. This isn't because of the diversity, but peoples rejection of the idea of diversity, especially religiously. Nation on nation has little to do with diversity I think. I'd need a more specific example to properly state my opinions.

It isn't because of rejecting the idea of diversity but because of grouping people according to such diversity or as Iti oj said labeling people according to their diversity.

Not directly, no. Racism is only one possible reaction to diversity, not something necessarily caused by it.

You're right, it doesn't. We can be diverse with or without labels. Sometimes it is convenient to use them, though.

An atheist can come from Arab, Jew, Hindu, Japanese, Muslim, Christian, .....so on.
Moreover, even though there is no unique or any "religious practices" , ceremonies, etc, to keep them united, I find unity in Atheism - as simple human beings.
