Becoming Yourself

Waterbearer

Member
There is no one that can make you become you, except yourself. You must mold and perfect yourself. It does not matter what other people think, all that matters is that you are your true self. Do things that bring you happiness. If it makes you happy, that's good, if it makes someone else happy, that's even greater. There is no dogma, there is no right or wrong way, all there is is you.

-One who is Enlightened.

I like it but I might be a psychopath. Then I think it wouldn't be right.

Which one of me?
I like it but I might be a psychopath. Then I think it wouldn't be right.
Quite.

Well Mister Enlightened One,

Is enlightenment the goal?
If so, what does one do when the journey is over?

I guess enlightenment is like seeing so it is the beginning of a journey and not the end of it.

Everyone is already enlightened, although most do not realize it.

I think that is only part of the picture.
If everyone is "enlightened" then where is the evidence?

This idea that people don't realize that they are enlightened is foolishness.
You realized something profoundly changed in you or you would not make such a claim.
People know that the are not enlightened.

The thing that is profound, is realizing that you were always enlightened, yet never knew it.

Maybe you should explain.

Most people search for enlightnement for years upon years, yet still they find nothing. The reason why most believe you have to "search" for enlightnement is because society believes it's too dangerous for people to know that they already are. They want to control us, and do not want to lose their control over us.

It is more profound to realize that we are already enlightened because we never could see it before, yet now we can. After all that searching, one realized that was all in vain. We do not need to change and become "enlightened" we already are. We were born that way. What truly needs to happen, is that we need to perfect our skills that we already have, and mold ourselves into becoming who we want ourselves to be.

If it were that simple everyone would be "enlightened".

It means to listen to and obey conscience. I do that. Don't you?

I can't get a 6yr old to do that, how do you get an adult to do it?
People have different ideas about what it means to listen to our conscience.
Many can't hear it at all.

This is something we are supposed to have forgotten?
This is enlightenment?

It seems you agree then. People have it but won't do it. :p
Human being seems to go back and forth resisting others' ideas of right and wrong and obeying others' ideas of right and wrong. Not many people find the right balance I fear.
