Being a Heteroflexible and Pansexual...and a bit of an Evangelical Christian

Hi, everyone! I've been having some trouble trying to reconcile my faith as somewhat of an Evangelical Christian with my sexual orientation as a heteroflexible and pansexual person. I need help. I don't know what to do.

Like most everyone else, your sexual orientation is something that will be with you the rest of your life. At least it won't change through personal effort. But the religion you choose can be. Personally, I find evangelicalism a stifling and repugnant religion that embraces its inflexibility a little too eagerly. It's been said that in the USA alone there are more than a thousand different denominations. I would think you could find several that are more compatible with your needs.

I'm taking a guess, but is it that you feel really uncomfortable with the idea because it doesn't feel "normal"? I think there is a heavy emphasis on heterosexuality as the 'natural' form of sexual interaction because its based on procreation rather than enjoyment of sexual desire for itself (which may be considered 'sinful' as lust). This can be a source of conflict between a religion and sexual orientation.

Oh, come on Skwim, it's not all that bad, but I guess you're right.

Forgive me for saying so - but wouldn't the main problem with being a evangelic Christian and engaging in homosexual activities be that you burn in hell for eternity?

How can you 'dig' a gospel that condemns you?

Perhaps you should try the UU church, if there is one in your area. They are quite welcoming, generally.

I dig the gospel...

Presumably this is true of liberal Anglicans, Presbyterians, Congregationalists and the like. But the evangelical identity is thoroughly anti-gay. In fact, their commitment to homophobia appears to trump virtually any other value that they claim to adhere to.

There are pro-gay Evangelical Christians. Don't let the loudmouths and naysayers get you down. I'm a Catholic and I've reconciled my sexuality with my religion. There's so many of us who do. So you're not alone. You can also be LGBT and conservative, as I'm discovering more and more. You don't have to run off to some dying liberal Christian sect that functions more like a social club than an actual religious community in order to be an LGBT Christian. Stay in your denomination! :)

i am ex-bi... you can change. I'm not sure how you would do it, but I know how I did it.

I changed through extreme physical torture and negative reinforcement. However, I believe meditation and psychedelics helped me and can help others. Dr. Timothy Leary onced experimented in changing sexuality through LSD.
I don't nessarilly think you need to drop a pocket knife in the center of your palm like me...
Or cut yourself or burn a lit black n mild in your foot. I believe ones mind can change through the power of the soul. We're stronger than brain chemistry.

However... I didn't do it to satisfy some god... I did it for me.
