Really?
It took on the average about 30 years a pyramid, and probably around 30,000 total laborers, professional planners, architects, and slaves (specifically for the largest known pyramid the great Pyramid of Khufu).
Archeologists know pretty well how the ancient Egyptians harvested and moved the stones; the Egyptians were skilled artisans, architects and mathemeticians. The pyramids were the result of an intelligent culture, slave labor, planning and several decades of steady work. Nothing extraterrestrial about it.

If modern America is incapable of making a pyramid, it must be the result of aliens, Sugriva.

My mom thinks that Aliens built(or at lest help) the pyramids. I think that most of us don't give are ancestors enough credit. Most are lazy in the society of today, and have lost the great things that could once be done for cheap and easy ways of building.

Not only do I believe in aliens, I also believe that we have indeed been visited. Call me a conspiracy theorist (and I am one by the way:)), but I believe that our government is hiding something from us. Between Area 51, the Roswell incident, and project blue book, I without a doubt that something has come into contact with us once before. Again, call me crazy, but that's what I believe.

It's only cheap when you don't have to pay for the labour.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories, because when SETI believed they may have discovered an alien signal, but wanted to examine the signal further to rule out natural causes, the news was leaked to the press within twenty-four hours of hearing the signal.

No, the news is too large and people like to talk too much for me to seriously entertain a conspiracy theory that has lasted over fifty years.

Odds are, aliens exist somewhere. However, I don't believe that they have contacted Earth, and I have doubts that they are even intelligent. Given the vast size of the universe, it's possible that there are intelligent aliens, but they'd be too damn far away to matter. Also given that the size of the universe is finite, it could very well be true that we're alone in intelligence.

I certainly wouldn't visit this rock in person... Why bother when you can send advanced space probes to do the job and not get hurt?

A planet full of warring psycho's is enough to keep visitors away.

We are not alone! But I don't think aliens will make official contact with us, until we learn to curb our violent ways amongst our selves. after all at present the human race [or perhaps only governments and military] are so paranoid that any alien visitors would be considered hostile, there ships destroyed, and before you know we are in an interstella War!.
Dream on....

And visitors who managed to travel here from another galaxy would not be able to fend off nuclear missiles?

You mean like Europeans were able to fend off arrows?
Higher technology doesn't make you invulnerable, it just gives you an edge...

ps. any intelligent traveler wouldn't take the chance of being stranded so far from home with no chance of rescue. And certainly wouldn't mess with nuclear anything.

LOL, well said. the Battle of Isandlwana of the 1879 Anglo-Zulu war comes to mind!

But perhaps your analogy with the arrows is more accurate than is initially presumed - perhaps we have the arrows in this regard.

Unless they had some decent ablative armour and a charged plasma field, which would absorb the blast and radiation.

Hey if they have advanced ablative armor and charged plasma fields... surely they have advanced AI robots and who knows... we may already be invaded by their nanomachines!

What makes people think we are the worst race? It is possible that alien races may be warring species, moreso than us. It is a little naive to assume almost anything. The possibilities are endless... For all we know, water could be a poison to an alien race.

also a good point... :D
I think though, that the assumption is... for a species to put together the sort of materials and support to launch an intergalactic mission, you would need a strong, planet wide effort.
A planet ravaged by wars can't muster enough outside resources to do such a thing.

Ah, but that planet-wide effort could come about through global domination by an aggressive power, imagine an alternative reality where Nazi Germany had won the war in Europe and continued expanding...
