If there is only One God who created all things, where else would evil come from?

Greed. Desire for more than you need leads to all other evils. Only the greedy can put their needs above the well-being of others.

evil/greed did not start with any particular being... we have no one to blame and must accept responsibility for our own actions... that is what adults do.

Seems like there may be a bit of a "chicken and the egg" thing going on here: Does greed cause evil or does evil cause greed?

Greed causes evil IMHO. (evil itself varies by culture, but all evil actions have at their root greedy actions.)

I think a combination of envy and pride from the choices I was given. I said Angra Manyu as a joke. Envy is when you are so jealous over somebody else, you'll harm them. This is caused my ignorance of the true reality that we're all connected, and by attachment to material goods. Pride is the ego. The "I, self, me, mine" mentality. Examples: "Who cares who I hurt, as long as I feel good." "This house is 'mine', these children are 'mine', my spouse is 'mine'." Ego.

To me those are rooted in greed. The idea that you deserve more than another.

This is a good question, but we do not neen to guess, the Bible tells us clearly.
Jesus stated this very clearly at John 8:44. In the 13th chapter of Matthew, Jesus gave an illustration about the sowing of the SEED. The good seed would turn out to be the sons of the kingdom, the bad seed to be sons of Satan, the Devil, Matt 13:36-39.
The evil one is identified again by Jesus at Rev 12:9.
Paul said that Satan is the God of this world, 2Cor 4:3,4.
Jesus said that Satan is the ruler of this world, John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11.
John said that the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one, 1John 5:19.
It is worth reading the interchange between Jesus and Satan just after Jesus was baptized. Notice Luke 4:5-8, where Satan offered Jesus all the Kingdoms of the world, and their glory, if he would do an act of worship to him. Notice that Jesus did not say that the Kingdoms did not belong to Satan, but only that it is to God alone that we should render sacred service.
Theology today, has a name for the trouble we are having . It is called Pansatanism, which means that the world today is manifesting the personality of it's god, Satan.
One thing is sure, if this world were ruled by God, or Jesus, we would not have the troubles we are facing today.
