People voted for Trump in 2016 because he convinced them he could get things done.
Then they saw that he could - and what he did.
So they voted for someone who wouldn't do much at all in 2020.

While I do wish Biden was more progressive, I do think he has made better choices and is more diplomatic than his predecessor.

So, basically, they're admitting here that they have no ideas, there's nothing they can do to help America out of these problems, so the only tactic they can use is saying "The Republicans are much worse."

It seems that there's plenty they could do, if they weren't afraid of angering big business and the wealthy. Nothing is out of their control, but the reason they believe that to be the case is because they're incapable of thinking outside the box.

Well if I had to choose between Trump and a kumquat I'd vote for the kumquat.

Kind of begs the question of who couldn't beat Trump. I look back to the 1990s, when candidates like Ross Perot and Pat Buchanan were soundly rejected by the voters. Buchanan even gave the GOP a scare when he won the 1996 Republican primary in New Hampshire, but they were able to shut him down pretty easily. 20 years later, in 2016, Trump put forth a similar platform and was more successful.

Keep in mind that disapproval can be for very different reasons. There are a lot of progressives who don't approve of Biden, but that doesn't mean they're more likely to vote for a GOP alternative. I think Biden's low approval is a reflection of the face that he is more centrist than Trump was. He bothers both the extreme left and right, but that actually makes him more electable.

Yeah, but look at who's opinion is being solicited. The opinion is more a reflection of the intelligence of the American people than of Biden's performance. Biden's poll numbers fall with inflation and the rising price of gas. I wonder if their approval rating fell for every head of state unable to prevent those. Probably not.

And what will the American electorate's solution to that be? Change parties. Worse, elect Republicans to help them with their economic concerns. Maybe they can get Putin to run. He cares about them as much as any Republican capable of winning the nomination.
