Bigfoot | Fact or Fiction?

You are arrogant in your words.
What you are saying is not based on reality. There have been scientific evidence found that points to the possibility of an ape species in some places of the world.
Educate yourself.
There's no evidence of any new ape species much less anything that is remotely similar to Bigfoot claims. The most recent living “mystery” primate was the Bili gorillas discovered in 2004 which raised the possibility that they were a new species of gorilla (see Project Mukumbusu). It turns out they weren’t a new species but something I find just as interesting: they were chimpanzees (more specifically Eastern Chimpanzees, or Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii) with unusual behavior patterns similar to gorillas.

But no substantiated Bigfeet, sasquatches, yetis, abominable snowcritters, etc. evidence has ever been presented.

For a pretty good thread on the subject I'd suggest Bigfoot Evidence? from a year and a half ago or so. The best posts in that thread are mine so you will likely be sending me a thank you PM in the near future. Painted Wolf kinda knows her stuff too. ;)

I don't really believe in Sasquatch or Yeti, but you never know. I also don't think I believe in The Loch Ness monster or Ogo Pogo (is that how you spell it?).

Evidence has been found, though it doesn't scream BIGFOOT like some would like it to, in certain specific areas.

And yet you still haven't shown us any, even though you've been asked to. It's fine; you don't have to. Just don't expect people to take your claims seriously, when you refuse to provide support for them.

BLIMP PROJECT TO SEARCH FOR BIGFOOT

A Bigfoot researcher is planning to build, equip, and dispatch a remote-controlled blimp to spend months above forests in the Pacific Northwest, California, and Utah in hopes of finally getting good evidence of the giant bipedal mystery animal.

According to a Reuters news story, "An Idaho scientist shrugging off skeptical fellow scholars in his quest for evidence of Bigfoot has turned his sights skyward, with plans to float a blimp over the U.S. mountain West in search of the mythic, ape-like creature. Idaho State University has approved the unusual proposal of faculty member Jeffrey Meldrum... Now Meldrum is seeking to raise $300,000-plus in private donations to build the remote-controlled dirigible, equip it with a thermal-imaging camera and send it aloft in hopes of catching an aerial glimpse of Bigfoot."

Though some may dismiss the idea of searching for Bigfoot as silly or ridiculous, there's no reason why the topic shouldn't be taken seriously and investigated scientifically. If Bigfoot exist, it is important to find out what they are, how they may be related to humans, and how exactly tens of thousands of them have managed to exist in North America without leaving any hard evidence. If Bigfoot don't exist, the question becomes a psychological and social issue: why so many people report and believe in them.

Well I have been considering the theories.

1) Bigfoots do not exist. All claims, reports and evidence can be put down to natural explanations; hoaxes, mis-identification of other species, misperception, etc..

I give this about a 30% chance of being correct.

Arguments for: It doesn't posit anything we don't already know is possible. It doesn't make sense that we couldn't 'nail down' the existance of such a species even once.

2) Bigfoots are another type of animal.
Arguments for: It's a naturalistic explanation. There have been other examples of new species being found. The number of sightings and their overall consistancy along with oft-repeated traits of the animal. The sincerity of so many sighters.

I'd give this a 15% chance of being true.

3) Bigfoots exist but they are not just another type of ape/animal. They have abilities we don't understand.

Someone used the term, trans-dimensional being. They can disappear to another dimension (for lack of a better term) and they have no desire to interact with humans. Some Asian and Native American tribes also hold this view. They claim, when followed, their tracks can stop suddenly with no apparent explanation. They also claim they can make you not see them/ or make you forget you saw them. (Interesting how so-called aliens , another controversial phenomena, has similar elements.)

Arguments for: Native traditions. Also it would explain the sightings without the difficult claim that there are multiple breeding populations around the earth of such a huge creature without us having satisfactory evidence.

I'd give this a 55% chance of being true.
