Comments? I think the guys right. PC culture is irritating.
Comments? Questions?
The vast majority of Americans agree with you. Something like only 20% or less of Americans approve of PC culture -- and that includes most of us on the left.
Right. Most liberals aren't as uptight as many on the right make them out to be regarding "political correctness", but they often use the extreme SJW trope as a straw man.
Dressing up as an "Indian chief" is definitely racist and literally any Indigenous political organizers you ask will tell you this.
Is this costume really offensive? Why?I'm going to have be in the minority then and say we probably shouldn't dress up as racial or ethnic stereotypes if we don't wanna seem like an ***. Is anyone here gonna actually defend dressing up in black face? If not, then why would you dress up in something considered sacred by it's people in a sacrilegious way? Or in a way that makes fun of Mexicans?
Perhaps it's more contextual, as a lot of these depictions have historically been used in racist contexts to make them seem inferior. People seem to forget where these stereotypes and types of depictions came from...
I'm not saying all costumes are this way, but I mean come on is everyone going to say it's really anything goes? Certainly there is some point at which we can say that it's gone too far and thus in poor taste.
Is this costume really offensive? Why?
Is it offensive if worn by an Asian but not offensive if worn by a swarthy Italian who looks Mexican? What if it's worn by a Mexican?
Is this costume offensive if it's worn by an atheist?
Should we ban witches costumes?
Maybe we should ban Halloween altogether. After all, it teaches children that it's OK and usually rewarding to issue threats and ultimatums.
Really? Do you have a rational explanation for why it's "racist", or are you just kind of saying it's "racist"?
According to polls, 80% of blacks disapprove of PC culture, and even higher percentages of Hispanics, Asian Americans, and Native Americans disapprove of it. If I recall, the list is topped by the 88% percent of Native Americans who disapprove.
Should we ban witches costumes?
Still a no for me, Witch costumes should not be banned.
Veronica Lake if you are curious
If it was made to look like he had a boner and he chased actual children around it might be kind of funny but would probably be in bad taste
