Bizarre: Melania Trump suddenly comes out as pro-choice?

I don't care. I have extensive experience with the system and it's just that. People are nothing but walking moneybags and things like ACA with deductibles in the thousands of dollars plus hidden charges proves the leftest quest to extract as much money as one can from the sick and injured.
Umm, the more "leftist" countries of the world all have universal healthcare.

It's Republicans that apparently want your healthcare system to be run as a for-profit business where people are just commodities.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
TRUE STORY TIME:

My 19 year old unmarried daughter was pregnant with my oldest granddaughter. She had an ultrasound at 20 weeks and then another at I think 34 or 36 weeks and both showed undeveloped kidneys in the baby. In fact, the doctors were so sure of this that even though she would probably die, they put a special neonatal doctor in the delivery room. She was fine and is still fine to this day and she is 21 years old so I'd say she's probably out of the woods.

I do love a happy ending.

What does this have to do with the abortion issue? Did they tell her that she needed an abortion, or were they only making sure that she had the best medical care when the baby was born? Even if it were relevant, it is just one anecdote rather than a generalization about what national policy regarding abortions should be.

I assume that Melania had Trump's approval because it helps in covering all bases. Trump's team can emphasize either Trump's or Melania's statements according to the audience.

They originally told her she needed an abortion but she would not do it so they changed their tune. As for it being an anecdote, I realize that but I just wanted to throw it in the mix because even ultrasounds can be in error.

So they told her what they recommended, but they let her decide. When she decided to go through with it, they gave her the best care they could. It was a tough choice, but she was the best one to make it, not her state legislature. In some states, they aren't giving women in that position a choice. The abortion would not be allowed, even if they felt it was best for her health that she have the option of an abortion.

They would have had to hold her down and probably sedate her to give her an abortion. Then they would have had to deal with a lawsuit. So they did the next best thing they could think of and at least put a specialist in the delivery room (which was unnecessary).

This only underscores the concept of her body her choice. One think that antiabortion people cannot seem to understand is that if one gives the government the power to prevent abortions one is also giving the country the power to order abortions.

I was very proud of her for standing her ground.

Yes, good for her. But what if there was a different problem? There are cases where once born a fetus is doomed to die in a matter of days with it being in constant pain all of the time. A loving mother could easily opt for abortion so that her child never felt pain. But right now in many states that is not a possibility. What if your grandchild was guaranteed a day or so of extreme pain? Would you want that inflicted on your grandbaby? Would your daughter have? If she wanted to save her child from that pain would you have supported her?

It was not my responsibility to make that decision for her. So I didn't.

I jhave thought and thought about it already. It was not my decision to make, so I didn't make it.

In @Subduction Zone's hypothetical case, it was your decision to make. The answer did not depend on you being there in reality, just your imagination. The reason for asking the question is that we are debating government policy regarding such decisions. What policy should the government implement? Allowing you the choice, or taking it away?
