Black and White magic

When I was a practitioner I heard that wicca has two vertices, white ones and black ones. The first were dealing with good energies and the other ones were on the dark side. As an ex practitioner I only used my beliefs to help other and to worship the Goddess. Im aware that there are bad things in this world and good things too, as also are good and bad Gods and Goddesses. Is there anybody who consider s/he as a dark practitioner? why? how do you work with it? Do you know any movement or person?

Thanks for contribute!!

I practice magic, not black magic or white magic, just magic. Energy is energy and it can be neither good nor bad. It is up to the practitioner to decide which way to direct the energy.

I hope that made sense.

That is the usual consensus, but there are others who have different perspectives on it. Most Neopagans will see magic as like electricity. It's a force and an energy that is fundamentally neutral.

Truly, though, what you believe is up to you. If you want to operate under a dualistic paradigm where magic is divided into "good" and "evil" go for it. This stuff isn't science, you can develop your metaphysics however you choose as no understanding can be proven correct (or incorrect) anyway.

It's also worth noting that to call something "dark" in Neopagansim doesn't equate it with "evil/bad" in most cases. I work with plenty of things that I consider "dark" but I don't at all consider them "evil/bad." My Winter Solstice celebration honors Darkness above all else, seeing as how it is the darkest 24-hour period of the year.

Well, whe you see dark in an aura that is generaly very bad actualy, while light colors tend to be healthy and good.

On my personal experience energy does can be "bad" or "Good", taking into consideration "good" as something that generaly promotes health and "bad" as something that destroys it.

In all fairness it would also be important to consider that there is only one time when a pranic healer would use dark energy and that is to fight against cancer, but it is particularly messy and can only be done by advanced healrs for that mater.

Being as how one the main tenets of Wicca is to not do any harm, then purposely doing magic to cause harm would be against Wicca, and therefore, anyone claiming to do such would not really be a Wiccan. Wicca and practicing magic are not one and the same.

Now, if you're just talking about magic in and of itself, then the energy just IS. It's the intent of the crafter behind the magic that determines the effect. A Wiccan may use magic for many things, including self-defense, but intentional harm or otherwise considered "dark" practices really don't fall into Wicca. It's comparable to a Christian using poppets. The practice doesn't fit within the religion.
