Black Metal

I like Dimmu Borgir.

Cool, a black metal thread I cant believe I over looked it. Dimmu Borgir is awesome, and Euronymous of Mayhem helped to create the 'classic' black metal sound - dark dragging melodies, triad chords played prestissimo tremolo on guitar. My personal favorite bm band is Dark Funeral who have been around since the early 1990's. Here is a song from their latest album "Where Shadows Forever Reign":

I haven't really gotten into Dimmu since ICS Vortex and Mustis left. I also just realized it's been awhile since they put out their last album, the only one so far without those two, so I guess so far I just didn't like their last album that much.

I never could quite get into Dimmu Borgir, I think my first introduction into black metal was through Gorgoroth and then from there to the more classic 2nd wave bands like Mayhem and Immortal.

My introduction included Kataklysm, Dimmu Borgir, and Hypocrisy (and also, because they had videos on the same DVD (Alone in the Dark), Mnemic, Nightwish, and In Flames).

(sorry, couldn't resist... I'm so very weak...)

Rather liked the Behemoth tune, but can't say this is a music form that I can really get behind. I'm 60 now, so I guess that should be expected.

When I am 60+ I will still be jamming out to and driving down the street blaring the music of bm bands like Dark Funeral and Naglfar from my car stereo. ;) :smilecat:

Nice to hear that I'm not the only one on the edge at this stage of life, LOL. Good for you!

I never would have thought you to be the type to say "I'm too old for this stuff." When I'm 60 my plan is to still be jamming to the likes of the "death metal opera" of Fleshgod Apocalypse, the brutal full-frontal drumming assault of Behemoth, and of course others like Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, and others. But I've grown to fond of the complexity of black and death metal to give it up.

Ohhhh.... thunder rippling in the background... yippee!

I was going to post this last night. Does this count as "black metal"?

I blend of black and industrial.
Wahoo... partial points.... I haven't gone over to the humdrum side after all. LOL...

I don't tend to listen to music while I walk, but will recreate the music in my brain, morphing it into a wild extended piece that morphs in and out of the original song. This morning during my mile walk thru town I was massaging this wonderful number by Rammstein. I wonder if anyone who saw this distinguished looking man would have the slightest idea what was going on within my tiny brain, LOL. It certainly adds an interesting dimension as you walk... This was the tune....
