Blaming God

Quite beneficiary of someone to blame God for tragedies and then deny it when it comes to creation. Although I know they don't believe in neither, they will jump on the opportunity to attach the negative to something that doesn't exist. What sport, eh?
Hehe... right-o.... blame him all they'd like, I'm just glad they believe.:D

So what number did you choose Faint?

You know me--pleasure and happiness.

I thought #1 and #2 were pretty damn clever. But if you want the temporarily-posing-as-a-theist perspective, I'd have to go with #5. Yes, it seems that if God is who the Bible asserts he is, he's got some plan that none of us can really see the end of. And in this great, ineffable plan, the ends justify the means. Because god loves everyone, and he loves them enough to make many of them suffer and be miserable since, in the long run, it's for their own good.

Exactly! I'm a changed man Scott. In fact, I'm declaring myself Managing Director of God's Customer Service Department. Please direct any blame and complaints to 1-900-YEAH-GOD (sorry, God doesn't have a budget, so we couldn't get a toll-free number). Operators are standing by!

Why is it whenever something bad happens to somebody(that believes there's a God) they always blame God first. It's really retarded. Most people throw God out of there lives and then get mad at God for not being good to them.Take the hurricane that just hit the US a few weeks ago.It totally destroyed Louisiana. Some people were getting mad saying stuff like "why would God let this happen to us".Louisiana is one of the most immoral places in the U.S.People reject God and then blame God for everything that goes wrong in their lives. Why is that?
Well, I don't blame God. I look for what it is I can do to make myself better from the situation. It's not easy, and I have asked "why?" before, but I never have been upset with Him. If they blame God it's because their faith is too weak to save them.

First of all, I might rephrase that. Calling something "retarded" is not the most polite way of approaching things, especially not to a developmentally-challenged individual. Second, I don't think anyone is blaming god for the horrors of Louisiana. That doesn't mean, though, that I think one can blame the horrors on the people of Louisiana, especially not for them being 'immoral' when that term is subject to very different interpretations.

a whole bunch of humanity has this problem i like to call POINT THE FINGER SYNDROME. when ever there is a problem there is always a bunch of folks out there that have to blame god, nature, a fellow human being for their problems. and it bothers the hell out of me when people wont stand up and be responisible for their lots in life.

for all those out there that do this let me be quite frank with you.
1. god did not tell you to live in a flood plain.
2. god did not go out of his/her way to destroy your house or job
3. god did not go out of his way to mame and kill your family

things happen which are sometimes out of our control and you should learn how to roll with the punches and learn from the mistake.

I don't think you're qualified enough to handle a bunch of winey and complaining people who don't even believe in God in the first place and even if they did they somehow think they are wiser and smarter then Him/Her. What a world.....:areyoucra

I can see this to a certain extent, but I can't really bring myself to blame the victims that much. Just to use an overused but fairly valid example, I wouldn't be inclined to call the Holocaust a "growing pain."
Nor would I say that the victims of the holocaust were paying their karmic debt! If for some reason we must cast senseless blame, I would much rather we blame God than blame the victims.

Mind, my theory of bad things tends to be "Bad stuff happens, and I don't know why. Best I can do is try to fix things a little." so I'll admit I'm biased.
I'll take that kind of bias any day. :clap

What makes you (as a real christian) think that God didn't cause (or allow) the hurricane?

You think that what happened in Louisiana and Mississippi is the result of their immorality? I suggest that you read the book of Job. Note especially who God sides with in the end. Does He side with Job who blamed God for his suffering? Or does God side with Job's so-called friends who defended God and blamed Job?

I believe in the body of god. This means we are all a part of the whole body of god. What you need is religious heads who have the mental capacity to explain how to implement god's ideas in the right way. To my idea god has always been sick. It is probably not easy to educate people to take the responsibility for a certain implementation. Lots of research needs to be done 'how to heal our body and soul'.
A probable explanation for the crossing of jesus christ might be that he lost control of the psychology he needed to teach to the people. He might became schizofrenic. Knowing his tremendous influence on the people across the globe, the best way to get rid of schizofrenic ideas was to cross him. It also had a psychological background.
In the late middle ages other examples can be found in the witchcraft. These so called witches were gotten rid of by burning them.
It can not be helped that it takes among others knowledge of alchemie to find out how god does his job.

A hurricane is a natural occurance, one of the hazards of planet earth. It is part of the earth process, just like earthquakes and volcanoes. People build cities where they KNOW FOR A FACT that these things are going to happen, then act shocked when it does? :bonk:

Uh-huh, it doesn't matter where you live there's always something waiting to happen in the way of disaster. You can either

1. Go and live on a Space Station with a giant forcefield.

2. Build a giant forcefield round your home

3. Create a personal Forcefield that clips onto your belt (btw if anyone has one of these can I borrow it?)

This is a pretty good topic.

People just don't understand God's will when it happens. This concept in and of itself is the main consolation for religious people. You can choose to believe in it or not.

People who blame God after something bad happens only need an explanation to why things happened (but of course, "why" implies a God, doesn't it?) It's not entirely their fault. After all, someone else once preached to them of God, whether they took it very far or not.

Humans all have selfish desires which are unescapable to some degree, and depending on our desires at the time, we will see things in a certain light.
