Luke 6:20 also says "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God." Luke 6:20 Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
I hope you are just pretending that English is what the Bible was written in. LOL.

Greek Concordance: πτωχοὶ (ptōchoi) -- 5 Occurrences

Strong's Greek: 4434. πτωχός (ptóchos) -- (of one who crouches and cowers, hence) beggarly, poor

Do you see that word, "hence"? that means it is someone's opinion that it means what you say it means.

The reason why actual poor people cower more than rich people do is because rich people are either comfortably satisfied or are too busy making money or both to think of God.

However, there are enough verses commanding people to give to the poor, that no one has an excuse for being a wealthy Christian and not giving to the poor.
Yes, and we sorta hafta put this all in the context of the time and beliefs two thousand years ago.

God was perceived as having a more "active role" in determining fate than what most people tend to believe in today, thus a prevailing belief was that the rich were favored by God because He bestowed on them riches. A century and a half later, Calvin emphasized this exact same thing, which got wrapped up in what became called by Max Weber "The Protestant Ethic...".

Well, you can imagine how much of a downer this was for the poor. Since so many were indeed relatively poor (eretz Israel was having rather severe economic problems at that time, largely due to the Roman occupation), that Jesus' message obviously resonated with this element especially. It's like "Hey, Jesus is telling me that I am important too and that God really does love me!".

Therefore, I do believe we need to put Jesus' message into that context, plus the context someone here mentioned in regards to riches presenting a lesser psychological need for God. For example, Gandhi said he'd rather hand his sons a poisonous snake than a lot of wealth because the latter all too easily could spoil them [btw, by his own admittance, he was not a very good father].

Also. I think that Matthew 25:31-46 isn't actually about doing good to the World's poor (as in defined; lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable or normal in a society.), but is about doing good to the other members of the Body of The Christ, poor and rich .

Define rich: having more than enough to live comfortably.
Poor: not having enough to live comfortably.

Do you really think the Bible is about that?

If the Bible really is about the rich and the poor, then why is nothing being said of all those in between?

As people are filing for their taxes I'm reminded that the poor are blessed
Luke 6:20
New International Version
Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Matthew 11
New International Version
2 When John heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come or should we expect someone else?”
The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

Matthew 11:5
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy

Luke 1:53
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

— Proverbs 31:8-9

Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the Lord will take up their case and will exact life for life.

— Proverbs 22:22-23

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

— Proverbs 11:25

It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.

— Proverbs 14:21

Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.

— Proverbs 14:31

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.

— Proverbs 19:17

The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

— Proverbs 22:9

Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.

— Proverbs 28:27

God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

— Psalm 9: 17-18
Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Matthew 5:42
Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you

Luke 14:12-14
He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

Luke 12:33-34
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also

Isaiah 58:10
If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.

Deuteronomy 15:7-11
“If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your eye look grudgingly on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to the Lord against you, and you be guilty of sin. You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake. For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

Deuteronomy 15:11
For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

Galatians 2:10
Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

Matthew 25:34-46
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?

James 1:27
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Matthew 19:21
Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Leviticus 19:9-10
“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the Lord your God.

Luke 21:1-4
Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

Isaiah 58:6-7
“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

Some of the things here to there were really getting messed up then, this why beetlejuice and devils adovcate movies really stood out to me and why i dont play sister brother father son games (in that since its crafty or even bully style and confusing or just meant to take advantage of weaker minds which I understand that Christians can be wonderful but were given knowledge by the founders not solomons temple to be able to recognize it call it whatever you want call it illuminati if you want because they knew of something that doesn't protect evenly. If its meant to take or harass people) between many relationships though appearing good and not all are bad. Even though they once set it up to protect people in an environment forget that it takes people away in immigration and wars like a trick of another set of people. The titanic was about were extra funding would go and the heart of the ocean stuff not really found.

Even though they once set it up to protect people in an environment forget that it takes people away in immigration and wars or unevenly amoungest over victimization yet stepping way past the lines without checking on where funds go too. Result some places have increditable rents if you are honest about your abilities verses your wages you would not be able to live there without support period. Then they open up college tech schools but again bs your skill set still matches your wages. This creates hauser like kasper hauser where everything gets scutnized and people think they need and sometimes do need mental assistance as the try to re adjust re adjust as they know something is off or just bully back. And sometimes yeah they do find themselves a little coo coo. Or over angry. Law and order bully is a good one. Also that in mental state can be funding to further push people down or whatever not every place. You are basically looking in the mirror of your governmentally funded provider reflecting you (whatever it is) lol and they dont look that different sometimes(not always) lol. Anyways ...But more so then ivy league hazing happens its set in or even sales bsers ceos that dont actually do anything but sell it on credit back go ask the government for funds anyways its like a trick of another set of people. The titanic was about were extra funding would go and the heart of the ocean stuff not really found.
