Book of Enoch?

Well, I have literally lost track of the number of times I have been told that the Bible is EXACTLY the way God wants it.
Of course, they get all fidgety and evasive when I ask WHICH Bible...

Oh, I didn't see this before. Hehehe.

Why the good old trustworthy 66 book King James Bible, written in King James English just like Jesus talked.

I'm guessing you aren't being serious here.

I agree....:)

What harm is there in quoting from the Apocalypse of Peter if the people back then regarded it as scripture or the book of Enoch?

Again, I understand that there were some gnostic scriptures that seemed to be suspect but should these books be reviewed again to see if they merit being included in "the bible"?

God 'accidentally' left out a book or two from the Bible?

Ha! O, no, it was left out by the historical accident of use in worship by the church, which was the rule for including books in the canon.

If a bible book which is in our canon (and is therefore the Word of God) cites a book which is not in our canon, why is the book which is referenced not also in our canon?

“Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men…” (Jude 1:14)

In legal terms, we'd say that it was "incorporated into the document by reference" making it as much a part of the document as the immediate contents of the document into which it is incorporated.

And "Rebellion" and "The Grand Inquisitor" from The Brothers Karamazov . . .

LOL that is a bit late.

Well, he**! Let's just go on ahead and add "Star Wars" and "The DaVinci Code, too!"

They are both nice mythology, but a little thin on literary merit for my tastes. You can put them in your Bible if you want though.

I'd also add The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, and the lyrics from Supertramp's The Logical Song to mine.
