"Boy, 6, caught playing doctor, is accused of sex assault"

"Three young children caught playing doctor last year have unintentionally landed themselves, their families and some Grant County officials in a federal civil rights case sure to raise questions and outrage.

The parents of a 6-year-old boy who faced charges of first-degree sexual assault have sued Grant County officials who investigated and filed the juvenile petition. The charges came after a 5-year-old girl's mother suspected that play had gone too far.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Madison, contends that officials violated the civil rights of the boy and his parents, and seeks damages and an injunction against Grant County District Attorney Lisa Riniker. The suit also names a sheriff's deputy and social worker as defendants. None of them could be reached for comment late Thursday.

The plaintiffs are identified only as D, who is now 7, and his parents as Jennifer and Kurt D.

According to the lawsuit, in the fall of last year the boy was playing with the girl and her 5-year-old brother when the mother arrived. The children said they had been playing doctor. Their mother told investigators she suspected D had put his finger in the girl's anus.

The lawsuit states that prior to the play date, D had medical conditions that required rectal examinations.

More evidence of the American hysteria concerning all things even remotely sexual.

Good Lord, I just can't abide Americans' hysterical hyperparanoid puritanical phobias about sexuality.

Children explore sexuality. They have always done so. It is perfectly natural.

What kind of unbelievably stupid ignorant anal retentive dip-s***s would bring up a six-year-old on charges for playing doctor?!

As a general note, kids that do things like penetrate other children with a finger, object or penis are typically kids who have been sexually abused in some way - either physically or by being shown sexual acts/porn. This is considered a HUGE red flag by professionals. Now, this kid obviously had another reason for it - his doctor's visit - but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not a trauma for the girl. Kids act out sexually, yes, but there's a difference between mimicking what they're exposed to and discovering that touching themselves feels good. Even mutual masturbation, while inappropriate, would be more expected than penetration or other mimicked sexual act.

Now, in this case, it's not clear if there's another reason there's a suspicion of penetration despite the reported denial of it by both children, but it's also not uncommon for children to disclose more as treatment goes on and they actually understand what happened as well as understand the truth vs. lie aspect - something that at ages 5 and 6 are not as obvious as you might think. I cannot imagine that such reports would really be made public though, and it seems like it's the court records of the reports if i'm reading correctly.

I don't know if the mother of the girl is overreacting or not, there's not enough information to say. But if I were the mom of a kid who I believed had been abused, I'd be doing everything in the world I could, too. And it's hard to fault her if she has a reasonable suspicion that something happened more than what has already been admitted.

As far as charges go, it's too young to be considered sexual abuse - they're almost the same age and both too young to understand AND victim and perpetrator don't live together. But proceeding through juvenile court is possibly the only way in the state to mandate treatment. Which if this kid really did think sticking his fingers in other people's butts was ok, would be a needed thing, even if the explanation was simple - doctor's appointment - and the treatment was brief.

this is why breastfeeding should stop after the first year.

The pervertions of the child are a clear evidence of the comppultion of his mother for breastfeeding, and the incapacity of the father to make her wife feel like a woman.

If you ask me, this all points out that the father of the boy was having an affair with the mother of the girl, and because the mother was to enfuriated with him for not comming out about it , she filed the complaint.

I mean it makes sense, you know? :ninja:

WTF. :sarcastic

This hits home for me.
When my son was in kindergarden he was caught by the teacher giving a girl a raspberry on the shoulder. Why the teacher went any further with it is still beyond my understanding. My wife and I were informed that we would have to wait and see if the girls parents wanted to persue sexual harrasment charges.
Fortunately they took it for what it was. But for a couple of days we were worried and my son didn't understand what he had done that was so horrible. I blame it on liberal PC ******* bullcrap gone way too far.

I don't know about all that, but there are Portugese women here who I know breast feed boys until the age of six. It's a cultural thing. But it's stll weird.:areyoucra

My god! Five year olds have no conception of sex at all. Sexual assault? Sexual harassment? What the hell!

I'm quite sure all the adults in these kids lives pitching a massive hysterical fit at the suspicion some kindergardener stuck something into another consenting kindergartener is going to do WAY more psychological damage in the long run than an amateur rectal exam.

What's wrong with just saying "Timmy, it's not polite to stick your finger in other people's bums"? And "Nellie, you shouldn't let boys stick their fingers in your bum." Point out they can make each other sick that way and call it a day.

For once, we are in complete agreement.

I caught my 5 year old girl playing doctor with a little boy in my living room. She didn't even seem to think that she had done something wrong. Turns out the whole thing was caused by a trip to the doctor she took to diagnose a yeast infection/allergy to soap. She wasn't even embarassed to tell me what happened. It makes me wonder if Dr. exams are more traumatizing than we realize though.

I'm not sure hat part of that story suggests trauma.

Well the liberals would probably blame the conservative anti-sexuality culture.
Of course, we should think about this some more because apportioning blame is very important.

True. Conservatives would most likely cover up any serious, real problems. I don't consider myself either. Extremes in any direction bother me greatly.
