Bozo Trump Calls Democrats "Treasonous" Because They Didn't Applaud Him

Trump's not a bozo.

Trump walks like a bozo, smells like a bozo, looks like a bozo, and quacks like a bozo. At what point is he not a bozo?

He's a bozo, a buffoon. At least, when compared to most of the people I've known in my life. For someone to call the Democrats "treasonous" simply because they did not applaud him pretty much makes the case that he's a bozo.

Trump's not a bozo.

Have you ever seen them in the same room together?

Trump is a petty dictator wannabe.

Yes, we see that clearly in his comment that not applauding him is un-American and treasonous. To Trump, "L'etat ces't moi"

In his mind, he is America. Doing anything anti-Trump is therefore un-American - treason, in fact, a crime against the state, but equivalent in his mind to not brown-nosing Trump.

I've not seen it or even read the linked article, but it's surely just rhetorical hyperbole is it not?
Yes. He was joking. Doesn't mean he and his audience do not believe it contains a sentiment of truth, but he was only joking.

It is interesting to have a president who jokes about killing people and still being supported. Interesting to have a President who jokes about everything by which people are rationally offended. And then to say anything is to not be able to take a joke.

The question is, who makes jokes about this sort of thing and why. Well it certainly isn't trying to unite the country to cast a whole political party in a treasonous light, even for laugh.

I would suggest the purpose is to make the audience think that anyone who is a Democrat is un-American. He wants people to view his detractors poorly to shut out their ideas and criticisms. And the rhetoric works. The jokes work. If you say something, well, then you just can't take a joke, can you?

Watch the video. It’s in the OP article. The actual treason remark could be passed off as joking hyperbole. But his point is not. He spends 2 minutes on the subject. He’s quite serious in presenting the argument that Democrats were unAmerican because they did not react exhuberant enough to his State of the Union speech.

Saw nothing untoward in it beyond standard political posturing. Just hyperbole to make a partizan point that Dems should applaud if what he says aligns with their values and that they didn't shows (in his opinion) they care more about politics and animosity than the people they represent.

Just a politician playing to his base.

Wow. Trump actually attempts to banalize the very act of calling his opposition treasonous, by leaving us in doubt on whether he means it. The video is very clear on that respect.

I did not expect to be capable of being shocked to this extent by Trump after the generous amount of prior warning, but somehow he managed it anyway.

You Americans will remember these years with much shame for a very long time.

Just about everyone I know makes these kind of jokes. I think one of his appeals to the common man is that he says the same things they do. It's the redneck spring.

The elitists don't like it because he embodies the political incorrectness that most people are tired of yet they try and enforce.

The drama is entertaining, kinda like watching shock tv.

I don’t think his base will take it as hyperbole, but as a serious and actual reading of the events. Their takeaway— the intended takeaway— is that not applauding or supporting Trump is un-American and potentially treasonous. I don’t think this is normal political rhetoric. Let’s not normalize it.
