I made peace with that when I was 16. Many people believe in a life after death but I've talked to you about it a lot and analyzed your position. I'd be willing to bet large sums that your views would change if you simply talked to a professional.

I had an NDE when I was 14.

I know I'm living on borrowed time.
Not worried about the last hour.....just the eternity after.

Made peace with eternity yet?
I'm working on it.
I think I'm somewhat ahead of you.

Everyone is living on "borrowed time", and everyone made peace with it. I don't think we should sweat the eternity though because we won't even be aware of it - "we" won't even really exist.

Ah, but there is a third possibility--if the supernatural exists, and can interact with the natural world (as many posit it does), those interactions are still real, even if science is not capable of analyzing them.
The ability to measure comes directly from being able to interact with our universe. If something "exists" and can make changes to the universe then the phenomenon can be measured. If we have the ability to measure it at this time is the question.

I'm simply stating that either something exists or it doesn't exist. I don't see any reason to name something "supernatural" as it has always been the dumping ground for theories and ideas that were not upheld by science but simply myths, stories, folk tales, ect. Its the palace of ignorance in which we store our unfounded ideas. When we do make the discoveries of why things are then its called science or "reality" rather than some supernatural phenomenon. So when people try to justify that there is a possiblity of it being a "supernatural cause" it feels to me as if they are clinging to the idea that their assumption prior to evidence was correct rather than looking at it honestly.

I have to admit, after years of looking for such interactions, I find the possibility rather unlikely. The accounts of supernatural intervention are ... too contradictory, too diverse, lack consistency, and many can easily be pointed out as either fraud or error. But I cannot completely reject the possibility.

I don't reject the possibility. But I also don't consider it without given reason or evidence.

More than likely a small consciousness actually resides within all atoms especially those contained a passed down blueprint. When these atoms form molecules produced in the right environment we reach consciousness. At further point we ask when does it begin.

However, without researching the concept of what is knowledge to find if their is consciousness. These questions are so very complex.

Who's 'we'?

If you are set about following your carcass into the box and the box into the grave....
go for it.

There's no say in the matter, and there's ways to make peace with that and people to help.

People that have faith will never concede that point.

Unless of course you would play to judgment and damnation.....

Data is not lost, whats done can be undone. Your you with memories only, were you not you before you could remember?

Shouldn't that be, "Data is not lost, what's done cannot be undone"?

What is data if not "what is done"?

"Consciousness has a physical cause, I am 21-30 years old" and a Neuroscientist/Buddhist.

We have seen that the component of consciousness that arises from subject-object division, called vijnana, is only conditioning of the unborn unconditioned during waking and dream periods.

And we have seen that discerning of Nirvana is possible in absence of anything graspable -- in absence of any conditioning whatsoever. The capacity of discernment is in the unborn-unconditioned realm, else Nirvana would go un-discerned.

I believe I have become this person for cause of this life.

I cannot assure you (or even myself) that I will survive the last breath.
That's not up to me.

Memories?.....aye.....very important.

And the Thief said to Him....
'Remember me when you enter your kingdom.'
