Breast feeding, at 8?

DallasApple

Depends Upon My Mood..
Oh here is whats weird...Hey guess what I have a grandbabby (SHOCK) I probably havent mentioned that...

But anyway...he gave me a HICKEY on my arm ...and it only took him a few seconds...(and he is bottle fed)...

But the kicker???..My husband thinks its "funny" to let him bite us...You know he's "teething"..already had 2 teeth(on the bottom) at 5 months...My husband says...'give him your finger and let him bite it"...

Well I ..."submitted"...and that child bit the HELL out of my finger..Everyone is "laughing" ..Like LOOK he "bit you" ROLFLA!!

Im like...um....how is that funny or cute?

Remember husband??..YOU didnt think it was "real funny or cute" when I almost bit your ear lobe off...NOW did you????

Love

8 years old? :areyoucra I think the mother is afraid to accept the fact that her "babies" are growing up.

I want to be clear that I'm not judging anyone BTW.
I did not actually even see the video,
so I don't even know what the mom had to say.

As human beings we construct our own "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts".
Yet truthfully, they are nothing but our own constructs.
So when "should" a child nurse till?

A decision like this then would be based on a couple of things...
what does the mother want...
and IF the mother cares...
what do the children really want?

Do the children KNOW what they want?

and,
if the children don't want what mother wants...
are the children opposed/strong willed enough
to actually overide the mother's will.

Certainly if the mother does not want the thing,
it will cease to be.
She is empowered to make that decision.

Then there is family?
What does the father want?
If he is opposed.. how strongly?

then to other family, friends, your society at large.

Trust me,
I am the FIRST one to run counter culture
when I see it will benefit me and my children personally.

But when running so blatantly in the face of your culture
and especially putting it out there in the public eye...
one must question the "benefits" very very carefully...
especially as the children are concerned,
because in many many ways
they are not equept or empowered enough
to understand or discern the benefits and reprecussions of these decisions.

Hope that made sense.

At first I thought it was creepy. My breastfeeding days were so short lived that it's hard for me to fathom how one could breastfeed for so long.

I do kind of have the mindset that mothers and children should decide when it's time to give up the breast. Granted, this woman and her girls have taken it to the extreme but it seems to work for them and they seem to have a healthy attitude about it.

I think many equate breastfeeding to something gross and sexual. It's not either of those things.

I could never do what this woman does but I'm apprehensive to label her a nut job when clearly, according to what I've seen in the video, the family is comfortable with the breastfeeding and the girls are naturally weaning themselves as they grow older.

I'm curious to know how their immune systems and IQs compare to other children.

Dawny, as always, you give compassion and reason to the subject. Bravo. :clap

I too find it odd, and it certainly isn't for me and my children either - although they've been weaned for many years now, lol.

.. and 8 years later at the age of 16, their friends take a look at youtube....

it's a cruel world..

Exactly.... Be it 16 years or EVEN 8 years, the girl will be really ashamed and it may cause some side effects. Like she might dislike her mother for such act, or life long dilemma. It is serious issue, it should be put to an end as soon as possible, and definitely , not encouraged.

Here's the thing...she stated in the video that one daughter weaned herself and the other is breastfeeding less and less. I doubt that her friends will know.

The girls likely don't see this as something gross and unnatural because it's not. The female breast was every bit designed for breastfeeding as it was to be a sexual play thing to be gawked at.

Why would she resent her mother for something that is bringing her comfort? It's not as if her mother is forcing her to the breast. Her entire stance is that she's allowing her children to decide when they're ready to give up the breast.

hehehehehehehe :D

I still have not had a chance to watch the video,
However...
I can only assume the mom has shown at least her own face?
Has she shown and identified her girls as well?

If so, I say stupid mom.
and I feel bad for the girls.

That is just being stupid at your children's potential expense.

Do you suppose then, this is some kind of a "cause" for her?

Well, hopefully her girls will be able to laugh at it all later,
(the youTube thing)
and not worry about it.

Friends,
Though being a permanently single male am not qualified to respond but being atudent of nature can say that it is personal besides as Katspur mentioned:

milk was produced on a supply and demand basis.

When I had to stop, due to there being no more milk, I was absolutely devastated. I don't even have words to explain how upsetting it was for me. Breastfeeding was (and in retrospect, still is) the best thing I experienced as a part of motherhood.

So, being personal and natural, see nothing DEVASTATINg or UNANTURAL in it.

What do many of my males have to say when they drink their wives lactating breasts?
That surely is not natural, is it?
Love & rgds

How do you mean?

Well to actually make a video about it,
and put it up on the net,
makes it a bit more than just a mom breastfeeding (feeding?)
her children.

Oh, yeah that's true. I think someone was interviewing her. I could be wrong...I only watched it once and I'm too lazy to go back and watch it again. Hehe. :p But to allow herself to be interviewed so openly about it, yea...I dunno.
