I read today that "Normal human consciousness... (offers) to a limited number of mind contents a momentary link to a pulse of core self."

Is Buddhism about exploring/experiencing the pulse of core self?

I'm not aware of any Buddhist schools that acknowledges any such thing. The practice involves direct experience, of which "self" is illusory.

Sounds more akin to New Age or similar.

Even "core self" (whatever that is) is temporary - it will change. Does touching core self allow one to make progress towards awakening?

This sounds like gibberish. What does it mean?
