Build A Band

Here’s your chance to put together your own elite fantasy band to perform the music of your dreams. Who would you pick for your personal band? You can use any person from any time in music history…!

Choices:

1-2 Singers (one lead singer, one back-up vocalist)
1-2 Guitarists (one electric lead, one rhythm or one acoustic)
1 Bassist
1-2 Drummers or a Percussionist
1 Piano, Keyboardist/Synth Player (Optional)
1-3 Horn Section (Optional)
1-3 String Section (Optional)

You must name your band and tell us what kind of music they would play….can be a combination of styles.

We will have a poll contest at the end for Best Band and Best Band Name! :jam:

Have Fun! :guitar1:

Yes. Trust me it can be done. Pink Floyd have proven it time and again. It's all about where they focus :)

Well, since you read my mind anyway....I will add another drummer. I honestly was just going to add one. You psychic or something? I love big, phat drums myself! :D

I shall edit another in!

Assuming Chimpy will be oh so kind and allow 2 drummers in exchange for the Horn and String sections...

Name : Argument from Ignorance

Style : Symphonic Progressive Tribal Dark/Black... Something.... We'll say metal for now, but it's going to be a bit hard to define.

Singers : None

Guitarists :

Ambience / Rhythm - Adam Jones (Tool)

Pure raw power + lead - Frank Zappa or Jimi Hendrix... they can take turns depending on the song style.

Bassist :

John Paul Jones (Led Zep)

Drummers :

Chugging random beats and awesome cymbal work : Danny Carey (Tool)

Randomness of percussive sound : Either Bill Bruford of Yes!/King Crimson/Earthworks or Jamie Muir of King Crimson I think Jamie Muir, he's the moor random of the two ;)

Keyboards :

Ooooooohhh that's tough. I want to pick Rick Wakeman (Yes!), but I don't think he could go dark enough for me. Probably end up with Mustis from Dimmu Borgir.

Seeing as I'm now allowed...

Strings :

2 Cellos Standing Alone and Zephyr :D

1 Viola played by anyone with some skill.

Very, very nice Chris and compiled with lightning quick speed! You know your own music mind quite well. I see your annoyance with Maynard has caused you to be singer-less! :biglaugh:

I'm off to bed to dream up my perfect band....

Nah, it's a general annoyance with Progressive lyricists... they tend to try too hard.

Thanks for the heads up on this thread Buttercup. It's funny though, I already know my fantasy band. I actually ask this exact question everytime I talk to someone about music. I'm know for it. I'll be sitting at a bar with my best friend and some random person, talking about music and I'll be like "Ok, I've got a question for you.." and my best friend will be like "Oh boy, here she goes again." hahaha!

Anyway, I've got two bands. Two different kinds of music.
Band # 1
Name: Pure Sleaze

Style: Punk (a la 70's. Not "Punk" as it's considered today, just to let you know).

Vocals: Stiv Bators (RIP The Dead Boys)

Guitarist: Johnny Thunders (RIP The Heartbreakers and New York Dolls)

Bassist: Paul Simonon (The Clash)

Drummer: Don Bolles (The Germs)

Ok, and just for added fun-ness (and because I can), I'm going to add a seperate Lyricist here for my first band: Darby Crash (RIP The Germs). When he was alive, the boy was too messed up on smack to actually be considered a "good singer", but man, could that boy write lyrics.

Band # 2

Name: (I'll edit in a name once I think of a good one)

Style: Rock n Roll/Rockabilly (with maybe the tiniest Psychobilly tinge, just for fun)

Vocals: Lead Vocals:Mike Ness (Social Distortion), Backup Vocals: Joe Strummer (RIP The Clash)

Guitarists: Lead Guitar: Joe Strummer, Backup: Mike Ness

Upright Bass: Lee Rocker (The Stray Cats)

Drummer: Brian Gregory (The Cramps)

I am having a really tough time coming up with my perfect band, too many musician choices! I may have to split it in two like C-1 did for a couple of different styles I like....grrrr, why did I have to make this thread? I have been thinking of this all morning. Back to work and hopefully I will have a consensus later today! :D

Name of Band: Plastic Watermelon Love

Type : Classic Rock

Choices:
Lead Singer : Roger Daltrey (The Who)
Backup: Pete Townshend (The Who)
Electric Lead : Jimi Hendrix
Acoustic: Jack Johnson
Bassist : John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin)
Drums:Keith Moon (The Who) and Ringo Starr (The Beatles)

String:
Cello : Alyssa! (I know you can play awesome)
Viola: My mum

Atheist_Dave

*Foxy Lady*
BAND NAME: Floppy Biscuit. It's funny and you know it.

Singer: Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)

Guitarists:

Lead: Randy Rhoads (Of Ozzy Osbourne)
Rythmn: Noel Gallager... Haha only messin. Malcolm Young.

Bassist: Jaco Pastorius

Drummers: John Bonham (Zep)

Keyboardist: John Paul Jones (Zep). No Quarter!!!!!

We would play classic rock (Oops, I meant they!), I would let Jaco do his sick jazz stuff even in rocky songs, who cares man! Such a shame we woudl need to bring back to life some of our members :(

To Chris and Becky:

Why on Earth would you want me in your band?

You've never even heard me play! (And believe me, you don't want to) :D

Okay, let's see.

Lead singer - Kurt Cobain for his wondeful shriek, passion and ability to carry a tune, yes, even the more tender stuff. He can also serve as a back up guitar player.

Lead guitar - Hendrix, because no one comes close in range, he can shift effortlessly between skull crushing riffs, blues, solos, anything really.

Back up singer - Bjork, now eveyone will find this weird, but she has a lot of the same qualitites as Cobain and has a unique, haunting voice.

Bass - Melissa Auf Du Mar, because she is good enough and she gives our band some sexiness.

Drummer - John Bonham, there are no reasons, who needs reasons when you're in Zeppelin. But he was ace!

Band name is "ENDORPHIN" as that was what my bands name was going to be.
