Burn in Hell...

Children often say things they know nothing about. I would be far more upset if an adult, who really understood his religion, were to say something like that.
Well, childhood makes the foundation of who you become as an adult. So I'd be a bit concerned if a child said something like that.

Anyways, I would never say that to anyone, because the fact is that I have no idea at all if there is a hell and if that is the case, who would go to hell. I suspect if God really didn't think anyone was fit to continue their existence after death, he would just remove them completely. What good would it do anyone to torture dead people?

Though, I don't believe I would be offended if someone told me that I would go to hell. It's like someone saying that I will go to jail if they believe I have commited a crime, I wouldn't be offended by that either.

Bottom line: People who tells other that they'll burn in hell and are so sure of it are usually self-righteous and arrogant people. And it will most likely come back and bit them in the ***.

Even when talking about the shooting that happened on Friday (may God rest the souls of His servants and handmaids), when my mother said "I hope that guy's getting it in the hereafter," I couldn't help but be a little disturbed. Yes, he committed a terrible, terrible crime and sin. But I'd still never wish eternal damnation on anyone. If anything, shouldn't we pray for the opposite, that people like the shooter repent?

I can't recall the number of times someone has told me that I will burn in hell. In that, other than the two girls in the bookstore a few years ago, I cannot recall another christian telling me that I was going to burn in hell. The two girls were a trip. Strange conversation.

Me: "What can I help you with?"
Them: "Do you have the Satanic Bible in stock."
Me: "Yes. I'll get a copy for you."
Them: "Can we burn it?"
Me: "As long as you buy it first I don't really care."
Them: "Are you a christian?"
Me: "No, I'm an athiest."
Them: "You know you are going to hell if you don't accept Jesus Christ."
Me: "That's fine. I could use a vacation."
Them: "uh..like..whatever"

I walked away from them while they ogled over LaVey and just laughed. I've put with a lot more ignorance than some random fundamentalists condemning me to hell.

That's fine. I could use a vacation. Man you're funny.

absolutely. We should pray and hope for the salvation of all?

It seems, people want to escape eternity. People believe that the unhappiness they experience is permanent, and they take measures accordingly. Hell is in the moment, and the moment in itself is eternity.

Pretty much agree with you there. Hell can be death or it can be pain and suffering from being spiritually dead but physically alive. I don't believe in hell, much less a lake of fire that I will burn in for all eternity. So it really does not bother me when people talk hell fire/damnation. People need to realize that there is nothing to be afraid of when you die. Death is the only thing certain in life.

I get that from some of my closest friends that aren't LDS. It's rather sad. I don't believe anyone except the really really really bad people are going to 'hell' as it were. I don't believe in fire and brimstone hell.
what is your definition of hell?

I have been told to burn in hell by most Jehovah's Witness' that have knocked on my door. I was'nt even rude either :( It doesn't offend me though, I've had to put up with harsher words from most people for my beliefs, or more accurately, the lack of them x Peace x

I seriously doubt you have EVER been told by any JW that you would burn in hell.
JW do NOT believe in a hell of everlating burning torment.
Who are you trying to fool with that statement????
I don't subscribe to the pagan myth of hell as a place for the wicked to live conscious in enternal torment. It's NOT Biblical. Do the research for youself if you desire.
Your statements about JWs telling you that you will burn is hell is FALSE and insulting to anyone that seriously studies Christianity and Christian denominations.
Are you an anthiest? Why are you posting on a Religious forum?
I suppose you are welcome to, but you being an athiest know little about spiritual matters. While you may be welcome here I object to you spreading falsehoods about any Christain group.

look it up for yourself. look up the origin of the word hell.
There is no "hell" like a Dante's Inferno of everlasting conscious torture for
"bad" people. In fact hell, as some picture is it, a pagan concept.
i'm not going to explain it to you because it's so easy to do the work and learn
the truth.
go for it and learn.
My definition? hell is simply the common grave of mankind. Period.
do no take my word. you will learn more by doing a little investigating.

That is very strange considering we dont believe in burning in hell!

Its not one of our beliefs, so i doubt very much you were told that by any one of Jehovahs Witnesses.

It's been my experience dealing with Chrisitans that preach hellfire & torment forever without hope of anything better are biblical fundamentalists that likely don't read the Bible to learn it's meaning and, more important, HOW the Bible makes meaning.
I'm an outdoorsman, love gardening, fishing, hunting, etc. Of course I'm a member of a few forums that discuss such. I mentioned I didn''t believe that there is a "Dantes
Inferno" hell. I took quite a beating from "e-friends" I've know for some 25 years.
So ingrained in the Christian fundamentalist mind that Dantes Inferno, the painting rendition, is real and does exist somewhere in the bowels of the earth.
Remember that Dantes Inferno, a Devine Comedy, was a play, a joke, a spoof, on the concept of hell.
Just one of many references: Divine Comedy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just passing through, but I couldn't but notice that you are replying to a post from almost 9 years ago, from a poster who has not posted in almost as long.

You may be waiting for a response for a very, very, long time.

Have any Christians here ever told someone they were going to burn in hell?

Once I knew a Morman named Dianna. She was nice, she came to public school with me because she was living with her cousin Laura. I had many discussions with Dianna about God, truth, and the like because we had an English teacher who made us think. I got wrapped up in everything he had to say about perceptions, truths, being deep, and biases. Half way through my Freshman year i stopped going to church. The hypocracy there was horrid, and my best friend had just admitted to me that she was Wiccan. My mind was opening. I liked it.

One day, Dianna spoke of something religious, and i talked to her about it. I asked her why she wanted to convert people, and she said, "Because I want them to go to heaven with me?" I told her, "Well, instead of telling people they'll burn in hell if they dont, Christians should just act a certian way, and then if asked, should tell what separates them from the rest, because God never forced himself upon anyone, and we arent supposed to judge... I have a friend whose wiccan." She replied, "Well, why are you going to let your friend burn in hell?"

It really hurt me inside that someone could say that about my best friend. I'm wondering if anyone has said that statement, or if anyone has been hurt by it before...i suppose...
only as a joke.

Degrees of verbal abuse from severe to mild : "Go to hell!" " I hope you go to hell" "Have fun in hell." "You will go to hell." "you will end up in the right place." "I am trying to keep you out of hell." "Consequences are consequences, you'll end up with people just like you. How else to keep you happy, how else to be fair."
