I usually opt with a magazine in the car, as that was I can pick it up and read it from where I was and not forget the 'story'.

Thats fair. I don’t really pick up mags unless I’m in a waiting room lol
Less so now due to the pandemic

They have TVs at some of ours, but they're usually on their own health channels, or stuff like USA Today. I'd rather watch the water rotate in the toilet.
American health care channels are actually largely banned in other countries. I didn’t know that, but apparently because many promote various drugs not properly tested by doctors/medical professionals, they’re actually considered misinformation and usually banned for that reason
(Not to say that our channels don’t promote such products, they do. But it’s usually with the disclaimer of “this isn’t legitimate medicine, because it hasn’t been properly tested. Please for the love of god, discuss this with an actual accredited doctor before use.”)
I guess our laws tend to be a bit more strict with such matters, idk
Our wait room tvs are usually either on the news station or the sports channel lol

I always carry my Bluetooth headphones to listen to music or podcasts while I am away from home. I don't drive but mostly walk instead, and found solace from jamming to my favorite tunes during long walks. There's no rule that I can't listen to my audio while waiting on appointments, I just turn the audio down enough which I can hear the nurses call my name or not.
Wow! After living in a big city for many years, I cannot imagine ever walking around with head phones on. I'd end up dead inside a week! If the criminals didn't target me both for the head phones and because of them, then the traffic would get me one way or another. Hearing in the city is as important as seeing, and even with both senses on high alert, you can still get killed or maimed in an instant. Ask any city-dwellers about "seeing around the corners" and they'll know what I'm saying.

I often wonder why medical places have so little care for our time. The last 3 medical appointments I've had (an ultra sounds, covid booster and general doc visit) were all the first appointments of the day but on each occasion I had to wait between 30 and 60 minutes before I was seen. They all apologised for the wait but none explained why...

I used to live in Milwaukee, which is an averaged sized city. I'm with you on this one. When I lived in Milwaukee the only time I'd really listen to something was when I was on the Oak Leaf Trail or the Beer Line Trail and it was typically Pines by A Fine Frenzy, trying to soak up all that atmosphere I could. If I was passing Brady Street or East Town I'd be listening to the traffic instead. If I'm on the bus for awhile, then I'll have music on again. I'm in total agreement with you that you need to be focused on what you're doing in the city. Thankfully the buses here now have signs that tell you what street you're about to pass.

I live in Greenfield now, a suburb of Milwaukee, and pretty much have my headphones and listening to music 24/7 when I leave my apartment. Unless I want to hear a few birds and the occasional car passing by there is no real noise to be heard of around here.

That's not surprising. Some of the side effects on the med ads are worse than the original condition...

And thank you. :)
