Yes and when those representatives voices fall on dead ears, it is the same as the people voice falling on dead ears.
No it isn't. Just because they represent us does not mean the EU have to agree with them. You voted to hand sovereignty (and responsibility for handling our side of the Brexit negotiations) back to Parliament. That does not mean they were ever guaranteed to do it well.
I don't think being considered equals (or thereabouts) is preferential treatment.
Brexiteers didn't want the UK to be treated as equals though. They wanted to be treated better than EU member states. They wanted us to have an EEA-type deal where we didn't need to accept the Free Movement principles, nor have to pay in the same fees that other Single Market members need to pay in, nor necessarily accept the same regulations regarding quality of goods so we'd be prepared to be the gateway through which things like chlorinated chicken from the States would enter the Single Market.
Having made unreasonable demands of the EU that were rejected. You lot are now content to blame the EU for Brexit-supporting politicians not being able to do their jobs or negotiate well against 27 other countries who are united in a common cause - something you were told would be ****-easy as we'd hold all the cards, but actually isn't because, well, do the maths.
