"California, New York and Washington Have United to Back the Paris Climate Accord"

Three Democratic governors said Thursday they won't let the U.S. back away from a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, despite President Donald Trump decision to withdraw from an international pact.

"This is an insane move by this president," California Gov. Jerry Brown said, blasting the decision as "deviant behavior from the highest office in the land."

Brown joined Gov. Jay Inslee of Washington state and Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York to form the U.S. Climate Alliance to uphold the Paris climate agreement, a pact involving nearly 200 nations aimed at slowing the warming of the planet.

The three states already belong to an emissions reduction pact of states and cities worldwide, but Thursday's action marked a direct stand against the Trump administration and a formal commitment to upholding the targets of the Paris agreement.

Hopefully more states will defy Trump's decision and join up with these three states.

And the irony is that a delegation from these states and Quebec are going to shortly negotiate with the Chinese to arrange more trade deals, including more cooperative efforts with green energy, thus by-passing the idiocy of this administration.

It's like the civil war II, Go Trump. All the richest spots back the climate accord, I wonder why...The axis of evil revealing itself?

You wonder why the most successful and wealthiest nations back the climate accord? What does that have to do with anything?

Oh, you must mean that this climate change 'hoax' is just a ponzi-scheme to get government funds across the world?

You sound like an anarchist, but I won't get your hopes up, as America is nowhere close to a second civil war.

Well it works for the upper percentage. They use the accord as an excuse to shape the economies of the world however they want. Why would they want something that favors China? Because they moved all their businesses to China, Probably getting rich on slave labor. They don't want any competition driving down their profits.

? Who told you that? You think the climate accord favors china over everyone else?

Sounds like you're just making it up

Every single nation in the world outside of two are part of this with Syria being a mess and the other wanting a stronger deal. The USA is putting itself in the same league as North Korea as a pariah state and ceding business to China.

No big deal for California. We're already way more restrictive than the accord. We even legislate cow farts.

The states that are saying they will still follow the Paris Accord are doing so because it is a green light to raise taxes! Sure they say to
follow the Paris guidelines, but will mainly go to plug the many shortfalls
within their budgets. Gov. Brown in Ca. is still looking for billions to fund his speedy train from Frisco to LA.

California has the 6th largest economy in the world, so how is your state doing in comparison?

Contrary to a popular belief, especially those on the right, tax money does not disappear into thin air. If spent wisely, it can be a great stimulus to an economy.

Secondly, the people of NY voted to have this, and I would suggest that it's their choice.

You don't understand NY politics and voting in NYS. a large population live in NYS but not NYC. However once you get down state in in and around NYC the population i larger. It is the NYC are that Albany politicians cater to and it is the group that would carry many of these things. Also much of what is spent is also spent on the NYC area and not always fairly or wisely.

I do not know how this will break out voting wise, but it has not yet been voted on yet. This is imply the Gov saying he will back it. And by the way, the Gov got into office on the votes of the NYC area. He lost the rest of the state.

That is excellent news. Methane from livestock is an extremely potent Ghg source. Hope the entire country follows suit.

I also consider that beef should be taxed to properly reflect the extreme drain on water resource, methane emission and added burden to Healthcare that beef consumption caused heart, pressure and cholesterol problems cause to Healthcare. These taxes should go to subsidize greens and vegetables and nonmeat protein foods (mushroom, soy etc.) that are both healthier and eco-friendly.

Beef environment cost 10 times that of other livestock - BBC News

A new study suggests that the production of beef is around 10 times more damaging to the environment than any other form of livestock.

Scientists measured the environment inputs required to produce the main US sources of protein.

Beef cattle need 28 times more land and 11 times more irrigation water than pork, poultry, eggs or dairy.

The research has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Could you point out to me on this map what you think the "richest spots" are?
the-us-will-join-syria-and-nicaragua-as-the-only-nations-that-arent-part-of-the-paris-agreement.jpg

It seems you define "the richest spots" as everything except the U.S. and Syria. That is interesting.

Meaning the richest spots in America, the ones getting rich selling out our country to the Vaticans Global redistribution of wealth scheme. It's all laid out in the old Popes plan for the world. Not that the pope writes it himself but he puts his name on it. Caritas in veritate (June 29, 2009) | BENEDICT XVI
