Who is to say Manu Smriti, was actually written by Manu though? Or perhaps it was adulterated later on by other writers? I don't believe that any holy book is the unadulterated word of God anyways, but just some food for thought :)

yes, plus the Manu Smriti is for Satyug (Krita), not Kaliyug, for Kaliyug we have the "SRI PARASHARA SMRITHI",

Here are some samples from the Parashara Smriti

20. " In each Kalpa (the deities) Brahma and "Vishnu and Shiva, and the
expounders of the Veda, the Smrithis invariably perish, and are born
again.

21 " The author of the Veda there is none ; (he) the fourfaced
(God), at each succeeding revolution of a Kalpa, recalls
to mind the Veda ; and so does Manu remember the
law (at each succeeding revolution of a Kalpa).

22. " In conformity to the character of the age, the rules
of law (suitable) for men differ from age to age. The rules
for the Krita differ from the Treta rules ; the Dvapara laws
are not identical with the Kali rules.

24. " For the Krita are suited the laws of Manu ; for the Treta, those
by Gautama (are) prescribed ; for the Dvapara those by Shank and
Likhita ; for the Kali, those by Parasara are prescribed.

30 & 31. "Religion has been overthrown by irreligion ;
and truth indeed by that which is false ; kings have been
overpowered by thieves ; males have been subdued by
females ; the worship of fire is dying out ; respect to
superiors is ceasing to be seen ; and maidens are becoming
mothers : this is what invariably happens in the age of
Kali.

33. " Special are the rules of conduct for each cyclical
age ; and the regenerate Varna are guided by the rules that
govern the age ; no censure (therefore) can attach to them ;
for the regenerates conform to the spirit of the age."

Istha gosthi
dear prabhus ,

may I also add something that was revealed for this age , ...

"sri bhagavan uvacha, I instructed this imperishable science of yoga to vivasvan (the sun god), vivasvan instructed manu the father of mankind , and manu instructed maharaj iksvaku (the forfather of the raghu dynasty).... b.g. ch 4 ...v 1.

here sri krsna refers to the initial revelation to vivasvan at the begining of treta yuga ,
although there may be a loss of the original instruction , bhagavan sri krsna revealed this complete truth again at the end of dvapara yuga in the form of the bhagavad gita , which we still posess to this day .
in which sri krsna assures arjuna that although this supreme knowledge has in the past been broken , and that it might appear lost , it is the same truth that sri krsna reveals again to arjuna .:namaste

Thank you for sharing this! I had no idea that kaliyug has a different set of prescriptions.

As long as you are devoted to God you are qualified to learn, and practice the teachings of the Vedas (including marriage sacraments).

In Mauritius there is a whole line of locally trained priests. It started some 30 years ago when the first Indian priest went there. The locals asked for some training, as they had lost some stuff (some might say a lot) in the 150-200 years since going as indentured labourerd. So this priest realized a need, and training local was better than getting more like him from India. Today, as one consequence, Hinduism thrives on the island. So this is an example of not one, but many ... in many of the temples there.

Of course not everyone liked this 'new' idea, but many have taken to it.
