I am a classically-trained singer...but I also like to sing pop stuff.
I very nearly joined a barbershop quarted earlier this year; they were trying to bully me into joining; one thing though, I learned to improve my range no end, practising with them. Years ago, I had a few lessons; I remember the teacher saying "One of the things I usually have a problem teaching is voice production; with you, that is the least of our concerns!"...........I am only allowed to sing at home when I am alone, and the neighbours on either side are out...

Strangely enough, with my new false teeth, I have trouble talking (I sound as if I have a lisp); but singing is fine - I guess that's because in singing, we open our mouths properly.

I guess if I have something difficult to say, I can burst into song!:biglaugh:

I used to be in my high school's general choir, where anyone could join. Then I tried out for the select choirs and made it my first try. So I guess I can sing :)

Yeah, sang in my H.S. Choir and swing choir....2nd alto, can do tenor if pushed and now that I am OLD, I can occasionally do baritone if it's not written too low. Did some informal choral stuff in college, church choir as an adult, but like all sorts of music, from Handel to Guns N Roses to sing. Roommate is a soprano, so we have fun with stuff in the car, etc.

The pipes are a lot rustier than they used to be!!!!

I can sing, but only as an extension of general knack for vocal imitation. I don't really have my own style or anything.

Yes, I can sing. I was classically trained for several years when I was a teenager, and then every now and then singing informally with an operatic tenor friend at work.

I've lately been getting some real work with my voice. I was cast in "A Chorus Line" as the part of "Connie" who gets to sing a solo about being really really short. In that show, I sang first alto, but my normal range is higher.

I'm proud of having a good range without going falsetto. Not QUITE Patti LaBelle, but not too too far away, either.

I also have a very powerful voice, too. During "A Chorus Line", we were short on microphones for the main cast. I was one of the cast that offered to sing without a mic, and I was told that I still outdid the orchestra and even some of the cast WITH microphones!

Peace,
Mystic

For the most part, no. My own songs I'm not bad at. My musical talents lies in my fingering. (On the guitar, of course;)).
