Cannabis boosts risk of stroke and heart attack, independent of tobacco, new study finds

Luckily science doesn't really care about your personal experience!

A single person's experience is not enough evidence to establish a fact, but that does not mean it is of no use in science. It is one way that hypotheses are generated.

Cannabis boosts risk of stroke and heart attack, independent of tobacco, new study finds

Data taken from more than 1,000 US hospitals found that people who used the drug had a 26 per cent higher chance of suffering a stroke than those who did not, and a 10 per cent higher chance of having a heart attack.

...
They indicate there is something intrinsic about cannabis which can damage the proper functioning of the human heart.

... and depressed people who don't use cannabis, have twice the problems.
its like saying that people who take painkillers are more likely to have headaches ...

such statistics avoid the distinction between cause and affect and feedback
in order to justify the abuse caused by a backward and racist legal legacy

but GOD knows who are 'sucking the blood of the sufferers'

I think there is a big difference between caffeine and dope, unless you are a dope smoker trying to protect you habit ?.
No, not really. Just trying to ascertain how the two compare. Caffeine can cause heart palpitations, stroke, heart attacks among the youth, breast tissue cysts in women, been linked to gout, incontinence, insomnia, reduce female fertility, linked to rates of higher miscarriage etc.

yes too much of anything can cause many symptoms, and dope is one of these, I have two coffees a day, which can help in many ways, the same with dope, so I am not against dope, I just realize that it can cause problems.

Exactly. These studies always swing around telling us what we already know. Moderation is fine, but too much of anything will cause trouble.
Today it's marijuana, tomorrow it'll be something like sugar or butter or something. After a while it all becomes a bit blah.

My god sugar, it is one of the most addicted foods if you can call it that, I know many people who are diabetic and they all love their sugar.

This claim is pretty worthless without any accompanying research. WHO took this data and exactly HOW did they come to these conclusions? I can claim that after studying data from 1000's of hospitals I've concluded that cannabis users live an average of 15 years longer than non-users. Unless I reveal the methodology I used to come to such conclusion the claim it meaningless.

Exactly, processed sugar is a killer.
And yet without glucose you will literally die. Like yeah be conscious of what you ingest of course. But you'll give yourself unnecessary stress if you worry about potential adverse affects. There's just too many to list.

Yes that can be true, I think most people know what is good and what is bad, they are just too lazy to do what is right for their body, we treat our cars better then our own bodies, its crazy.

Speaking from plenty of experience, marijuana is much more addictive than caffeine, way more side effects too.

Speaking from plenty of experience, I'd disagree 100%. Caffeine is physically addicting, marijuana is not. Caffeine withdrawal included pounding headaches, massive digestive issues, really pissed-off attitude. Marijuana withdrawal I experienced a really pissed off attitude. Side effects from prolonged caffeine use: Still deal with digestive issues after 12 years of non-use. Side effects from prolonged marijuana use: None

I'd trust a medical expert over a stoner's opinion any day.

I'm sorry but I have never smoked marijuana in my life.

Never smoked or actually taken illegal drugs of any sort. I have taken some prescription medicine but suffered awful side effects. I ended up throwing them away. I take nothing but vitamins.

I believe you used to be one of those "stoners" so are you saying that you don't believe yourself?....I don't believe you either.

If something not being 100% healthy is a good reason to have it criminalized, then why isn't the anti-cannabis crowd not also pushing for the prohibition of alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, fast food, etc.? You know, things that are even more addictive and have caused far more health problems and death? Don't step up on the soapbox unless your sermon is consistent.

Good point.

Why ban cannabis when it has never been demonstrated to be the least bit harmful, whilst all the legal stuff, including prescription drugs are killing hundreds of thousands of people every year?

If you don't think anyone says marijuana has no ill effects, maybe you should try reading Deeje's posts, among others.

This is how big pharma demonized marijuana in the days when people believed everything they saw on TV.

Cannabis was used as medicine for thousands of years before drug companies started to synthesize components of plants in order to patent them for large financial gains.

A young Mum in Australia recently had to sell her house to pay for treatment for a rare form of lung cancer. It costs $8,000 a month and is not covered under the PBS (Govt funded pharmaceutical scheme)
Just after an offer was made on the house, vandals broke in and completely trashed the place.
Volunteers heard about her plight and a team of businesses and workers fixed it all up for her. Some volunteered labor, others donated materials. What did the wealthy drug company who manufactures the medicine donate? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! They maKe billions of dollars in profits every year, but people die if they can't pay.....actually people still die even though they do pay....so it's a no win situation all round for the patient.....win, win for the drug companies though.

Was cannabis ever a dangerous drug? NO! But it was drug company propaganda that gave it a bad wrap.

This is why "this vicious plant" was portrayed as the worst drug ever! What a load of old cods!

It never was anything like this....it offered relief and benefits that made people well.....and the drug companies knew it. So they convinced people it was the worst drug ever by lying about it.

They are still trying to hide the truth but it's out there now.

LMAO! Did you ever see the musical remake of Reefer Madness? It's freaking hilarious and often kind of catchy. Not great but epic nonetheless!

Well, smoking anything isn't good for the lungs. Of course, there are other means by which to partake.
