Cartoon or Anime?

Anime is a subgenre of cartoon, and it all depends on the individual title. Personally, I think both are filled to the brim with garbage if you try to judge each by the whole.

Looney toons, Inspector Gadget, Berserk, Ghost in the Shell... there are some good ones in both.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen a lot of Anime that I liked. But for every one good show or movie, there are ten that are ****.

Well obviously but as a whole Anime is beast, every genre has **** types.

Most of them are absolutely great.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Which is better Cartoon or Anime?

I personally think Anime is wayyy better.

:)
Anime is more of a insight/thinking man's genre including its humor.

Cartoons are more goofy and nice.

Cant decide between the two tbh. :0)

I've watched a fair bit of Sakamoto. If you think it rivals steins;gate I question your sanity ;)

Naw, not that Anime ofc.

But others like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Hunter x Hunter, and such are better.

NO YOU DIDN'T.

Even deathnote and Codegeass beat those two and Steins;gate is better.

Code Geass and Deathnote are great, i cannot judge them in comparison with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Hunter x Hunter.

But all those are better than Steins Gate by a decent amount imho.

I'm done with this thread:facepalm:

LOL, it is not all that good xd. . .

It has a great plot, but in terms of of the characters and length it is not as complete as those other Animes.

I heard a new season is coming out though lol.

:)

I like both. Sometimes I want to watch some Gargoyles, sometimes I wanna watch some Mushishi. Sometimes I want to watch Archer, sometimes I want to watch Ajin. Sometimes I want to watch Justice Unlimited, sometimes I want to watch Azumanga Daioh. Sometimes I want to watch Secret of Kells, sometimes I want to watch Metropolis.

They both have their own virtues. I prefer anime for not worrying so much about censorship and because characters have better looking faces in general. I prefer cartoons for its more fluid and active animation. Anime does show/present rated R or +18 material in so many shows, which gives it a realistic feel, and cartoons show fighting scenes in more details and fluency. Lately more cartoons came to adopt some anime approach in material ratings. DC Comix animated movies are good examples for that. Now they show blood and death, for example, with less constraints than before.

Next to the obvious conclusions of limitations in cartoons, comes those of anime. Fighting scenes in anime rarely meet the quality of that of cartoons. Flashes and almost still scenes with just a moving background is common in anime, and it sucks. Just watch fighting scenes of average cartoons; e.g. Justice League, and compare it with those of average anime and you'll get my point. Only in some rare cases anime succeeds, like in Samurai Champloo and Basilisk, while in all fighting cartoons it is fluid.

I love both anyway :)
