Cat Baths?

What you can do inbetween baths is sprinkle some baby powder or baking soda directly on her fur or on a brush and give her a good brushing. That will take out the excess oiliness.

You can also do it with your own hair. I'll sprinkle baby hair on my hair and then brush it off when I haven't time for washing my hair. Makes your hair smell nice, adds volume, and takes out the oil.

Tip..dont let her hear the water run..have everything ready..(shampoo and towel).Have a large cup that can be filled with the water ready to drench her and to rinse her..

Do NOT pour water over her face..

Be prepared to be scratched..

To add, make sure that no water gets in her ears!

I used to give my cat Nala a bath when she was younger and an outside cat.

I used jugs of luke warm water, held her firmly by the shoulders, had someone else do the dumping, scrubbed her quick and dumped more water on her to rinse and done.

One thing I noticed was that she freaked if I let her twist her head to look at me. If I just stayed behind her and kept her face forward she didn't freak.

I dunno... every cat us different I guess.

I also have washed Stormy before. That cat is just weird. I used a drenched warm washcloth and got him wet slowly. He rolled onto his back and went to sleep while I did that, and slept through his scrubbing with the soap. I woke him up and put him in the tub to rinse him with the shower head. All I literally had to do was hold one of his front paws to keep him from moving. It was freaking incredible.

I ended up having to take him to the vet. I was giving him an emergency bath because he rubbed up against a fly sticky in the porch and had his fur all matted with glue. The vet had to shave it off. It took them like, not even 5 minutes. They were amazed. They said he just... went with it no problem. They were all laughing and didn't even charge me anything.

I love my cats. lol. Good luck.

Depends Upon My Mood..
Another suggestion..since she is long haired and having this problem already ..its not going to get any better.Rather than having to bathe her all the time..maybe consider taking her to the vet and just have her shaved.Like a cat crew cut.Because you could get her cleaned up and bathed..and turn around and the next day she will have the poop stuck all over her rear end again. No to mention the knots and mats come on quckly if they arent grooming themselves.

It would be much less traumatic IMHO to have her shaved down at the vet 2 or 3 times a year than having to be bathed and brushed and fiddled with regularly. Also with her hair short...she may make more attemps to groom those parts of her body that seem to be to tiring for her now due to the long hair.

We had to do this with both our persians. They never groomed properly starting from kittens.
