My favorite story on this subject took place last year. At the Comet Pizza (subject of Pizzagate), there were religious nutjobs protesting the owner who is openly gay. In response, a bunch of lgbt activists staged a "dance party" in front, forcing the nutjobs to abandon their protest out of "fear for their heterosexuality". It was hilarious.

That is pretty cool. I really do hate they Anti LGBTQ protesters. Some of them go to the extreme and start shooting.

I'm kinda ambivalent about Gay Pride, and especially parades and such, and I have been for years.

To the extent that they are beacons of hope for the people who are still confused and feel trapped in the homophobia of the culture, I am totally good with it.
But over the last 20 years or so, I have seen less of that. And more of a ridiculous display of superficial and dysfunctional behavior, and a celebration of victimhood and entitlement.

I have not gone to a Gay Pride event in years and I am not expecting to ever again.

I'll be frank as a bisexual myself ( not that it really matters) I personally really dislike pride parades here in the united states. It's more or less a giant freakshow at this point with the most debased things happening. I've seen sex in alleyways during these things, people whipping other people in their underwear, the works. I can not say I am proud of something that as far as I can tell I have no control over.

This is a relic from the days when we lived in a truly homophobic society which for the most part as far as I can tell is gone. Hell even a lot of the more conservative Christians I meet just don't care as long as you don't flaunt it in the streets. All I can say is I don't want my identity to be wrapped up in sexuality.

All of that being said you are free to have a bit of pride. I ain't gona burn ya for it. I ain't even got a pitchfork or nothin'

I've never participated in any sort of pride event, largely owing to my introverted non-partying nature. It might be an interesting cultural phenomena to observe from the sidelines... just not something I've brought myself to go and experience.

I have to admit I'm, more or less, in the same camp as you. My sexuality is a fairly small part of my overall personality and I'm not quite sure why people are prone to making such a big deal out of it.

Yeah, pretty much. Was in the early 90's for me in Vancouver, Canada. I was already 37 in '93.... ... sniffle... :) Actually, and seriously, given how wild things were back then it's a bit surprising I even remember it. :D

Thats about time I started coming out. I was reading the DC Metro Weekly and kinda got a gist of why you would say the behavior etc is uncouth. The LGBT center here, well the only one I know, has smaller events ill try to go to.

93' was that before the DOMA act? I think there was a shift in the current then. I saw clinton on the news implementing it. Never forgot how I felt.

But, yeah. I will keep you guys updated.
