Censorship in school. Yep it happens. Teacher sues and wins.

There are entire cookbooks dedicated to “getting the most out of your microwave.”
But I use an air fryer now. It’s a godsend

Yeah, I've seen some of them.... I remain unconvinced.

I've heard great things about the air fryers... I'd love to try one some day!

lol a youtuber I sometimes watch (half jokingly) used a couple of microwave recipes. With humorous and surprisingly successful results. I think he made this really damn good sounding pizza dip. It looked okay it was basically melted cheese with meats, so it didn’t look appealing. But damn if I didn’t want to eat it all the same.

Mate I’m going to join the choir singing the praise for air fryers. I’m telling ya, no preheat, frozen to cooked and you can cook or reheat anything you want. Much better than a microwave. And healthier too. No oils. Though you do obviously have to clean it

I could see one making a successful dip in the microwave.

Besides, some of the most delicious foods look terrible. My oldest son loves an African dish we call peanut butter stew(as I can no longer remember the proper name). Basically a bunch of meats(or in our case, imitation), greens, and tomatoes simmered in a stew of broth, cumin and peanut butter. Looks awful. First time I made it, he whined and moaned, says he wasn't gonna eat it(he was around 7-8ish). The rule was one bite. He kept carrying on. Finally, he took his bite, and yelled "Oh, I get it now! It looks like **** , but tastes great!" Still one of his favorites...

I hear the air fryers make wonderful fries without all the fat... we all love fries here. My sister was going to give me her old one, but my mom stepped up and said she wanted it... Shame. I think I'd enjoy one.

Who the hell wears a t-shirt on picture day?

As someone who is very strongly against censorship, I'm entirely ok with the decision to edit the picture to make the shirt appear plain. To me, it's not about what's on the shirt... it's about the fact that there's anything on it at all.

Could have saved time, effort, and $325,000 if they just told the kid to have someone drop off a suitable shirt, or come back on re-take day.

I think a T-shirt is probably the most common apparel at any time for high school boys... picture day or no.

Heck, most kids seem to be fairly unaware of when picture day is... my son never knew. Though I will admit he can be gloriously unobservant.

Um... what?

Nobody gets taken by surprise... they send you home with an order form so your parents can choose what sort of photos they want (4x6, wallet size, etc...), what the background color will be, etc... and so that they can send you back to school with the money to pay for it.

This kid was a junior. He had already been through Picture Day 11 times before in his career as a student.

I just went through one of my high school year books.
The girls would get dressed like it was prom, and the guys would put some gel in their hair and wear something with a collar.
The number of students wearing t-shirts (without also wearing some sort of unbuttoned button-down collared shirt over it) is an extreme minority.
Of that group, the number of those t-shirts that had text on it was an extreme minority.
Of that group, the number of those whose t-shirts with text on it that was visible enough to actually be read was an extreme minority.
And that text might have been the clothing brand name, or in some cases the name of a local college..

None of the parents were silly enough to send their kids to school on picture day wearing a t-shirt with any kind of a message on it

Or, if you're my son, you bury the notice in your locker...and the next one... and the next one... (I had some teachers through the years who were aware of this, and would notify me personally. My son does have some special needs.) Some years I'd call to find out picture day had already passed...

That's really cool you have your high school books still! I remember a lot of my male friends wearing T shirts. I do recall a few who wore a button up. Girls seemed to go between normal wear to slightly dressier. I was a 90s kid. I wonder how much the time period affects formality during picture day.

I was also a 90s kid. Graduated High School in 2005. The yearbook in question is from my senior year.

Did they take your son's picture anyway? I'd be surprised if they did this for free. There's a list of names in the yearbook of "those not pictured".

Nope, he had his picture taken every year!

Though this is in a district where button up shirts are required daily. Honestly, I get tired of seeing him in them. When I know its picture day, I ask him to wear something else.

Probably not a Trump shirt, though(though he'd never have worn one anyways!)

Huh I keep forgetting America has random rules for school uniforms without being actual school uniforms.
Over here uniforms are mandatory but can be cheap as chips. Usually tax deductible I think. The private schools have hella expensive uniforms though

Nope, nope ...

That's often true, but not always true.
My daughter goes to a non-uniform public high school.

We use an air fryer, and it's great. We also have a combo slow/pressure cooker which is great.
Microwave is used to defrost frozen food or reheat leftovers sometimes, and not much else.

Oh yeah I was speaking more generally. I know there are a few non uniformed schools. None around where I live though :(
