So in this world today there must exist the descendants of the self-replicating molecules,
Assuming they didn't die off.

Are we the descendants of Adam and Eve, or

The emergence and continued existence of self replicating Molecular systems has a lot of very important physics and chemistry behind it and is not simply blind chance. I think reading this article will prove insightful.
